What Is The Best Pegboard?
More Detailed Pegboard Reviews
Element System Tool Peg-Board Review
German storage specialists Element-System have been leading the field in home and workshop organising since 1954. We got our hands on the Element System’s peg-board organiser system and put it through its paces.
The metal pegboard itself is rigid steel, but it’s not so heavy that it would be difficult to put up. The pack comes with four 80 x 20 cm perforated pegboard sheets that can hold up to 15 kg each, and can be arranged to fit your wall using the included uprights.
There are three padded holders for power tools, two sturdy shelves and a collection of hand tool holders and hooks that can be arranged where you need them. We think this is the best tool pegboard for limited wall space, because usually pegboards come in larger sheets that can’t be split up like this.
VonHaus 44 Pcs Wall Mount Storage Pegboard Review
VonHaus are well-known for their affordable tools, accessories and gadgets designed to make life a little easier. The clever wall-mounted storage system by VonHaus that we looked at certainly answers the question of what to do with all your bits and pieces when space is at a premium.
Made from extremely durable and light impact-resistant plastic, the pegboard itself comes in two parts and can hold up to a maximum of 36 kg worth of tools and accessories. By using clever wide locating slots, as well as traditional hook holes, this DIY pegboard provides added flexibility where you can locate the hooks and bins.
The bins themselves are removable and can be stacked when not in use. They come in three sizes that can hold from 1-2.5 kg, and are useful for holding screws, nails, brackets or anything else that you need to keep organised.
As you would expect from the best tool pegboards, there are 14 tool storage accessories including a handy adjustable width spanner holder and a range of hooks that can be position to hold hammers or mallets as well as tools with hanging holes.
Fixkit Metal Peg Board Review
Fixkit have succeeded in producing a simple and robust steel solution to all of your shed organising problems. This is the best pegboard for hobbyists and DIYers that haven’t got enough space already.
The Fixkit Metal pegboards themselves come in three separate panels, which gives you the maximum flexibility dependent on your wall space. And seeing as the individual holes are only 1.5 cm apart from each other, there’s a way to hang anything you like so it’s easy to reach.
Fixed to the wall with three main wall screws, the metal pegboard feels solid enough to hand power tools alongside lighter hand tools and fixings. They even include the right size screws and wall-plugs to help you complete the installation.
The thing we like about this pegboard storage system the most is its simplicity. The hooks and tool hangers are strong enough to hold most tools, and they all hang from either the regular small holes or the keyhole shaped larger holes. We would say that they’re the best pegboard hooks, if there had been a few more included in the set.
VonHaus Garage Wall Tool Rack Pegboard Review
Another home pegboard storage solution from the Manchester based VonHaus company is the garage pegboard and shelf tool organiser.
It’s the perfect solution to having stacks of tools and accessories spread out across multiple tool boxes and bags, and you seem to spend more time looking for each tool than working with them. The VonHaus Garage Wall Tool Rack Pegboard is large enough to accommodate a whole tool box, but the two separate pegboards can be configured to fit a modest size wall.
Made of tough, impact-resistant plastic, this DIY pegboard is lighter than a steel pegboard, but just as strong. The pegboards are not flimsy and can be attached to the wall with as many fixings as you think it needs. We think this is the best pegboard because it offers real value in its flexibility.
Our favourite feature of this pegboard storage solution is the pair of multi-purpose shelves included in the set. They provide a ridiculous amount of storage in the same tough plastic as the pegboard is made from. The ten front hooks can be used to hang smaller items, and the multiple slots and holes in the shelf itself can accommodate a whole range of hand tools.
Pegboard Buyers Guide
Any keen DIYer will know that at least half of the job is remembering where you put your tools and fixings after the last time you used them. Searching through boxes and bags to find the right screw wastes time, so investing in the best pegboard tool holder like the Fixkit Metal Peg Board or the VonHaus Garage Shelf Tool Organiser is a good idea.
The best pegboard fits around your wall, not the other way round. This is why modular systems like the VonHaus wall-mounted organiser are so useful.
Multiple tool boards can be connected vertically or horizontally to make an entire pegboard wall if you have the space, or can be used singularly if all you have is a small wall.
Different hooks and holders are usually included in a pegboard storage system so you can store the smallest hand tools up to heavy drills and whole sets of spanners. The other most useful holders on the best pegboard systems are removable bins that can be filled with anything you can think of.
When we tested out the four best pegboards for the UK market, we knew they were all useful solutions for organising busy workshops and sheds, but the best of the bunch has to be the Element-System pegboard organiser. The robust steel construction and accessories make this tool board feel like it will stand the test of time and provide years of good service.
