Kärcher K4 Full Control Home Pressure Washer Review
Karcher’s K4 Full Control Home Pressure Washer is the best pressure washer for patio cleaning because it has plenty of power, high water flow rate, and a practical accessories kit included in the price.
Let’s talk about power. Karcher’s K4 has a water-cooled 1800 watts which is good and high and certainly enough to jet wash your patio clean in no time.
All this power can push through 420 litres of water per hour at a maximum 130 bar of pressure. Karcher says this boils down to 30 square metres per hour which means you can clean your patio before lunch with plenty of time to spare.
Included in the price is the Home Kit, which includes a T350 patio cleaner and a litre bottle of 3-in-1 stone and façade detergent which you just clip into the plug and clean detergent slot.
I really like the stability of this machine. Lots of pressure washers can’t stand upright, but Karcher’s K4 Full Control has a stability foot to prevent falls. It’s the little touches that make this machine so great.
The hose measures six metres in length and there’s an LED display trigger gun that helps select the right pressure for the surface. You’d select the brickwork symbol for the best patio wash for example.
The machine also has three pressure settings, a telescopic handle for portability, and the option to purchase lots of other time-saving attachments – all on top of a two-year warranty.
The Karcher K4 Full Control pressure washer is the best pressure washer for patio cleaning because it has a specific brickwork pressure selection, lots of water flow and a patio attachment.
You won’t find better.
Wilks-USA RX550i Electric Pressure Washer Review
The Wilks-USA RX550i is one of the best pressure washers for the patio because it’s incredibly powerful, versatile and has great build quality.
165 bar of pressure is a lot and the Wilks pushes through 450 litres an hour with 1800 watts of power – that will jet wash a stained patio clean in no time.
It has sturdy wheels for portability, a copper wound brushless motor, and a nice chunky telescopic handle. Lovers of great build quality will appreciate the durability of this machine.
Click and Go accessories include a lance, a gutter lance to clear leaves from your guttering, three vario nozzles with a detergent spray, a turbo wand and the all-important patio cleaner head. This keeps filth from flying upwards to spatter your patio doors and brickwork.
The eight-metre hose and five-metre power cable mean this is the best pressure washer for patio cleaning medium to large surfaces without the hassle of extension leads – which you don’t want in a wet environment.
Kärcher K2 Full Control Home Pressure Washer Review
This is Karcher’s second appearance on my recommendation list simply because they’re so good at the job.
The Kärcher K2 Full Control Home Pressure Washer offering is one of the best pressure washers for patio cleaning because it’s an affordable price but still lifts grime and algae no problem.
The 140-watt motor powers 360 litres of water an hour which is more than enough for a standard-sized patio. It has 110 bar of pressure which will lift mould spots and baked on bird poo with ease.
The K2 has plenty of accessories such as the dirt blasting lance for the bird poo we mentioned, a trigger gun, and a detergent pouch as well as the all-important T50 T-racer patio cleaner that keeps spray off to a minimum.
When you’re not using them the accessories store neatly away in the onboard accessories pouch.
This is a great, well-priced pressure washer from a top brand that’s best suited to small and medium-sized patios – and does a good job of your car too.
Karcher is so confident in the K2 they offer a two-year warranty so there’s nothing to lose.
Nilfisk C110 4-5 X-Tra Presure Washer Review
Low budget doesn’t mean low quality. The Nilfisk C110 pressure washer is the best pressure washer for patio cleaning at the price point.
Despite the low price tag, it has 110 bar of pressure and 440 litres of water per hour on a 1400 watt motor. That’s enough to give your patio a good going over though you might have to scrub any really ingrained algae.
There’s an automatic shut off to stop the machine overheating and a click and clean ‘tornado’ nozzle (OK, so they overdid it on the name!)
The tornado attachment fires out fanned jet water which is the best accessory for a quick patio wash down, but you can use the power-speed nozzle for harder-to-shift marks if it’s not enough.
The Nilfisk has a five-metre hose and a five-metre cable so it’s suited to smaller areas that have seen regular cleaning.
This is a top-notch entry-level machine that’ll keep your patio gleaming and is useful for hosing down your car, bike and patio furniture too.
Black+Decker BXPW2000PE Patio Pressure Washer Review
Everyone knows Black and Decker and they offer a great pressure washer that’s one of the best for patio cleaning because it has 2000 watts that blast algae and dirt into outer space.
As well as 2000 watts this Black and Decker pressure washer has 140 bar of pressure and uses 440 litre of water an hour. It’s a powerful machine that’ll remove ground-in dirt, mould spots, moss and filth in little time.
Accessories make the best patio cleaner and this nifty piece of kit includes a hosepipe that sucks water from a water butt or an outside tap, a trigger gun, a lance, a rotary jet wash nozzle that lets you vary the jet strength so you don’t blast away your pointing, a foam lance bottle, and a fixed brush.
If that wasn’t enough you also get the all-important patio deluxe cleaner and fixed brush that allows you to clean large patio surfaces without mucky splashback.
This patio pressure washer is wheeled, ergonomically handled, has a mega long eight-metre hose and great build quality.
My grandad swears by Black and Decker and he’s never wrong!
Patio Pressure Washer Buyer’s Guide
What Is Flow Rate?
I’ve mentioned litres per hour on all of my recommendations. It’s an important feature to consider because it indicates how much water, and therefore time, it takes to clean your patio.
Flow rate is the amount of water the machine can deal with in an hour. The larger Karcher K4 can push through 420 litres whereas the smaller Karcher K2 manages 360 litres for example.
In general, the better the machine the more water it can deal with. The best pressure washers for patio cleaning will have a high flow rate.
The K4 has a 420 litre flow rate and this equates to around 30 square metres per hour. It’s a good comparison for other makes and models.
What Is Pressure?
Bar Pressure is a measurement of pressure and shows how forceful the water jet is.
110 Bar means its 110 times more powerful than the air pressure. It’s also sometimes called PSI which is ‘pounds per square inch’.
You’ll need 100-130 bar for quick patio cleaning. Any more and beware of destroying the pointing – any less and the job will take longer.
Accessories and Attachments for Patio Pressure Washing
The most useful accessory for patio pressure washing is – you’ve guessed it – a patio cleaner attachment!
The best pressure washers for patio cleaning all include either a patio cleaner attachment in the price or have the option to purchase one separately.
They’re essential if you don’t want to make a mess of the house brickwork or patio furniture.
Patio attachments are round, flattened clip-on pieces that attach to the end of the lance. Usually they have a fitted rotating brush and the best patio pressure washers have a detergent bottle attached.
This neat design keeps the water pressure facing downwards so splashback is limited. You don’t need one, but it keeps the job clean not to mention a lot quicker.
You may also want an extension hose.
An extension hose gives you more reach if your pressure washer’s hose is a little short. Patios can be large and if you have a garden path or front driveway that’s long an extension hose will help no end.
A one-way lance for spot cleaning high-pressure areas is handy too if your patio has seen better days.
Mould spots can be a nightmare to shift but a focused jet of powerful spray can shift it. A one-way lance or powerspeed nozzle (brands have different names) will do the trick.
How to prepare your patio for pressure washing
A pressure washer will clean your patio so thoroughly it can change colour, but before you whip out the high-pressure hose and patio attachment there are tasks to do first!
- Move your patio furniture, BBQ, pot plants, and pets somewhere else. A lance will create messy splashback that’ll splatter algae and crusty remains onto your furniture. A patio cleaner attachment creates less mess but it doesn’t fit around objects so well.
- Then use a stiff brush to get the majority of dirt and leaves off. Actually, this is good practice anyway even if you aren’t using the pressure washer because leaves stain as they decompose and make life really slippery.
- If you have decades-old stains or grease that’s difficult to shift, spot them with the patio washer detergent first and let it get to work. Think of this as the stain remover you dab on white work shirts to remove the salad cream that fell from your baguette. It just helps shift the mark a bit faster.
- Then put your goggles on, tuck your jeans into your wellies and get going.
If you can accept the fact you’ll get wet, pressure washing the patio is wholly satisfying.
From grey streaked slippery death trap to gleaming new slabs in under an hour? Nice work!
