What Is The Best Pressure Washer?
More Detailed Pressure Washer Reviews
The K4 is widely considered the best Kärcher pressure washer on the UK market. It’ll clean anything from your patio to your car, and you get a lot of kit for your money.
The K4 offers 1800 watts of power and a water-cooled engine. A water-cooled engine uses water to maintain the ideal temperature, so I don’t need to worry about the unit overheating when I’m in the middle of a task.
It can spray 420 liters of water per hour, with a moderate 130 bars of pressure.
Water pressure, measured in bars, tell you how much power’s concentrated on washing away dirt. I use a higher pressure for cleaning my patio and a lower pressure for washing my car. The Karcher K4’s capable of cleaning 30 meters per hour, enough to tackle jobs in most households with time to spare.
The K4’s LED Display makes this machine easier to use than its competitors and other K4 models. The display on the trigger helps me select the right pressure for the right job. The screen displays symbols for different tasks, making it easy to adjust settings for all my tasks. There’s one setting for washing the car and another for cleaning stone or brick work on a patio. The pressure settings give me extra power to clean my drive and lower power when its time to clean my car.
I check the pressure level on the display at any time to make sure it’s right for what I’m doing at the moment, and change it instantly if needed. The LED display requires two AAA batteries loaded into the trigger gun handle.
The K4’s Dirt Blaster Lance offers a powerful rotating point to wash off dirt or mud from tires or wheel rims. There’s a water butt to make conservation easier, and a user-friendly patio cleaning attachment.
Like most other Karcher Pressure Washers, the K4 isn’t cheap. Well-built and adaptable for many uses, it comes with a patio cleaner, Vario Lance and Spray Lance. The storage compartment is little fragile, but other than that, I haven’t found any drawbacks to the K4
The Karcher K4 Full Control Home Pressure Washer has my vote as best jet washer of 2018. It’s easy to handle and changing from one function to another takes only a few seconds. Its 130 bars of pressure and telescopic handle make it ideal for my all-around outdoor cleaning needs.
If you’re looking for something with industrial power, capable of cleaning large areas, this petrol pressure washer by Wolf is a fantastic option. In my opinion, it’s the best petrol pressure washer you can buy.
It works faster than electric pressure washers for tough, high-volume areas. It gets rid of stains from garage floors, walls, driveways and cleans home exteriors before painting. It blasts grime and algae on patios and cleans mould between bricks. Since the Wolf 200 runs on petrol, it is more powerful than the other pressure washers on this list.
The durable lance comes with five nozzles and a 6-metre high-pressure hose. If you want to use a 10m hose, be sure to buy the correct one as indicated in the manufacturer’s guidelines.
With 220 maximum bar pressure, the Wolf 200 Petrol Pressure Washer transports 540 liters of water an hour. That gives you lots of water and water pressure to wash your pavement, garage, masonry and quickly get it done.
The 6.5 HP 4 stroke petrol engine, all in a steel frame. If you need to lug the pressure washer on rough or hilly terrain, the all-terrain wheels make it easier and help prevent damage to the unit.
The Wolf 200 Bar pressure washer has no built-in water tank. You’ll need to attach the pressure washer to your tap with a hose or use a water tank. (There’s a tank on the front bottom for detergent.)
Use clean, unleaded petrol with a minimum of 92 Octane to power your Wolf 200.
You’ll need to lubricate the engine with oil just like your car engine. The pressure shutdowns automatically when the oil level’s low.
Since the Wolf 200 Bar Pressure Washer is Petrol driven, it’s nosier than an electric pressure washer. You may want to wait until later in the day to use it to avoid waking up neighbors. The petrol power gives it and extra hard spray jet that might strip the paint off vehicles.
Use the jet spray nozzle and detergent nozzle included for washing vehicles. Foam up the car with the detergent nozzle and then rinse it off with the jet spray when you’re done cleaning.
The attachments include a pencil, jet, fan and detergent nozzle. Wash vehicles, patio furniture, or dirty garage floors by choosing the right attachment for the right amount of water spray. Some tasks require water from a pencil thin nozzle while other items need a wider spray for thorough cleaning.
You’ll need to fill the Wolf 200 with oil in two different locations on the machine. If the engine is not fully filled, power may cut out after a few minutes, which can be frustrating.
The Wolf 200 comes with a two-year warranty. I recommend the Wolf 200 Bar Petrol Pressure Washer if you need wide coverage for exterior house walls, garages, drives, fences and other hard to clean areas. It’s a bit too problematic dealing with a petrol tank if you have a smaller yard and can use a compact electric model like the Karcher K4.
The Nilfisk C110 is great value for money, and in my opinion, it’s the best pressure washer under £100.
It comes with several accessories and moderate pressure capacity. It offers an air cooled 1400 W motor and 110 bars of pressure with a high water flow rate of 440 liters per hour. The Nilfisk C110 works great on small areas, but I recommend a 120-bar pressure or above model for thorough cleaning of large driveways or patios.
There’s a 5-metre high-pressure hose and five-meter electric cable to let you move from patio to washing cars on a small to medium property. The C110 has a pre-fitted filter to keep dirt out of the water supply. That’s a good feature if you get caught up in your work and have no time to manually check operation. It also features an automatic on/off function powered by a thermal sensor. The sensor shuts off the pump when the load’s too high, which saves energy and water.
Amazon reviewers report that the C110 can easily clean moss from garages and siding and bird droppings from patios by using the standard accessories that come with the Nilfisk C110. The Click and Clean Tornado Nozzle gives you fan jet power for cleaning and rinsing average surfaces that aren’t had to clean, including patio furniture and outdoor pottery. The Powerspeed Nozzle works on tough stains and dirt, the kind you might find on muddy patios or smudged shed walls.
The Nilfisk C110 offers a small but powerful unit comparable to many Karcher models. If Karcher pressure washers are too bulky or expensive for you, this is a good alternative. This tough entry level unit doesn’t use a lot of power compared to any other power washers but works just as well.
Mobile and easy to transport from place to place, the Nilfisk C110 4-5 X-Tra Pressure Washer scores points for its many attachments and strong, yet lightweight build. It does have a design flaw that makes it hard for some users to disconnect attachments.
The Kärcher K5 is a top of the range model, but quite pricey. If you’ve got a large surface area to clean, it’s worth considering.
It offers a water flow of 500 liters per hour making it the best pressure washer for a patio, driveway, or car and it has the power to get rid of sap and stains without harming the surface material.
The water-cooled motor prevents wear and tear and increases the life of the machine.
The K5 has a simple set-up – just connect to an outdoor tap and start cleaning. Control the flow of pressure and detergent by selecting +/- symbols on the back of the trigger gun. Save time with the 3-in-1 lance. It includes a Dirt Blaster, Vario and detergent settings, so you don’t need to change the lance when switching to clean different areas.
The Karcher K5 accessory kit includes T350 patio cleaner and 1L stone detergent. The integrated handles on the patio cleaner make it easier to wash garage doors, walls and fences. The Plug ‘n’ Clean system lets you replace detergent with one quick movement and get back to your work. There’s no frustrating stopping and starting if you need to add more soap.
Wind in the hose after using with the integrated hose reel. There’s a storage space for lances, cable and high-pressure gun. The 8m high-pressure hose endures up to 160 bars of pressure and 80⁰ C.
The aluminum handle extends to make transporting easy. The wheels and telescopic handles are fully retractable for convenient storage. Between uses, store the power gun and lance on the unit.
The pros for this one include high water flow, five-year warranty, 3 in 1 lance, trigger gun setting selection. With a bar pressure of 145, this model provides more power than most electric pressure washers. The bad points are a higher price than competing brands and a design flaw in the cable reel, which can jam and drag the machine when you’re breaking down after a cleaning session.
If pressure washers in the 110 or 120 pressure range provide too little power, but you don’t want to use a petrol pressure washer, the Karcher K5 offers a good compromise machine.
The K4 has 15 less bars of pressure, but I don’t see any major difference in cleaning power with the K5 over the K4, though your experiences may be different. It’s not as user-friendly as the K4, either. Still, the Karcher K5 Premium Full Control Pressure Washer’s a good buy (if a little pricey) if you use a pressure washer often.
This is the Kärcher’s K4’s main competitor. It’s got to be said, Nilfisk have done a bloody good job with this model. Small, but powerful and well worth your consideration.
It provides thorough cleaning for all indoor areas, cars and patios like the K4. It’s got a powerful 1700W air-cooled motor, and 440 litres of water can flow through it per hour. The pressure tops at 130 bars for average outdoor tasks.
This pressure washer’s decent water flow makes it ideal for small to medium-sized patios and driveways. If you have larger space, a pressure washer with a higher water flow rate will help you clean faster. The C130 provides enough power to thoroughly clean your car without harming the paint.
The Nilfisk C130 is lightweight and wheel mounted, so you don’t need to be an athlete to use it. The durable aluminum pump keeps water spraying at the pressure you need when you need it. There an auto stop-start handle for safety, and a spray lance with 360⁰ degree rotation and a built-in low-pressure nozzle.
You don’t need to drag the Nilfisk C120 from place to place. It has a 6-metre high-pressure hose and 6-metre electric cable.
If you want to save water (and who doesn’t?), use a water butt tap to fill the pressure washer with harvested water. Encased in blue recycled plastic to protect the unit, the C130 weighs 16kg and has wheels for easy movement. There’s a maximum inlet temperature of 40⁰.
It comes with a click and clean nozzle for more accuracy when spraying water, a wash brush and a Click and Clean Foam Sprayer and Bottle for using detergent.
There’s a two-year warranty compared to three for the Karcher K4. I rate the Nilfisk C130 so high because it handles a bit more water than the Karcher K4 at 440 liters per hour. It’s ideal for your car, motorbike, patio or decking.
The reasonably-priced K2 Compact Pressure Washer is a good model with solid reviews. It has an air-cooled motor and offers 110 bars of pressure and 360 liters of water flow per hour. It’s not quite as powerful as my K4, but it covers much of the same territory. Its 1400 wattage capabilities provide moderate power for outdoor home cleaning needs.
Ideal for cleaning cars, bicycles and tidying up walkways and patios in small gardens, the Karcher K2 Compact Pressure Washer is lightweight and versatile for simple tasks. If you need to clean driveways, siding or lots of stonework, though, it won’t give you the sheer staying power of the K4.
It doesn’t have wheels, but includes clips to carry it around. It has a Dirtblaster Lance which, with its rotating point jet spray, provides up to 50% greater cleaning power. Its One-Way Lance offers constant high pressure. There’s a T50 T-racer patio cleaner, and a detergent pouch for patio and deck cleaner, and, of course, a trigger gun. You can store attachments in a compartment inside the unit to keep nozzles readily available for each task.
The K2 has a detergent pipe and detergent suction tube for washing off tougher dirt. Utilize harvested water with a water butt tap. The pressure switch control turns the motor on and off when the trigger gun is pressed and released, a built-in filter prevents dirt particles from damaging the engine and pump.
Connect the 4-metre hose to the jet and pump to clean your car. You’ll need a hose pipe to attach to your water butt or tap and connect that to the unit input. (The hose pipe isn’t included with the Karcher K2.) Use on patio furniture, bicycles, and cars without damaging or stripping paint.
The motor and pump occasionally dip in pressure, and the hose connection may leak. Aside from those minor problems, the Karcher K2 Compact Pressure Washer’s accessories and its high water pressure make it a good buy. The K4 has the advantage for its extra power and LED display, but the Karcher K2 offers an entry-level alternative.
The Bosch AQT 37-13 Plus is a solid mid-range model, but can’t quite compete with the Karcher or Nilfisk ranges. However, Bosch are a reliable brand with excellent customer service, so you may wish to stick with who you trust.
The Bosch AQT 37-13 is another mid-ranger, good for motorbikes, BBQs, garden furniture, pottery and garage doors. It offers a 130 maximum working pump pressure and a 370-litre hour flow rate.
It offers 1700 watts of power, enough for cleaning around the patio or washing the car. If you need to clean off crusted mud from brick walls or stonework or ingrained dirt on patios, this pressure washer completes the task without effort on your part.
There’s a suction tube for easy detergent application, and a clear view water filter to make maintenance easier. The SDS fittings make set-up quicker and keep hose rotation smooth.
Set up the Bosch AQT-37-13 by clipping in the hose, plugging the cable into an outlet and cleaning. Unclip the hose when you’re finished cleaning and pack it up until next time.
The 3-in-1 nozzle keeps me covered for just about any task I can imagine. There’s a high-pressure fan for general cleaning, a detergent nozzle, a wash brush for cleaning vehicles and a patio cleaner. For rain gutters, there’s a 90˚nozzle which lets you remove dirt from roof gutters or wheel rims, so you won’t need to stretch or bend.
As compact as a wheeled suitcase, the Bosch AQT 37-13 is an excellent, moderate-pressure choice if you have cars, bikes or outdoor furniture to clean. At 130 bar maximum pressure, it cleans harder than the Karcher K2 or Nilfisk C110. The Karcher K4’s LED display and Dirt Blaster Lance give the K4 a definite advantage over this Bosch model, even though they both have 130 bars of pressure.
It comes with a free two-year warranty, but you can extend the warranty to three years by registering on the Bosch website within the first 28 days after purchase.
Why is a Pressure Washer so Useful?
A pressure washer cleans large or small outdoor areas, including pavement, drives, the exterior of sheds and homes, cars, motorcycles and windows. It saves you time, trouble and aching arms if you have lots of area to cover.
A pressure washer consists of an electric or petrol driven engine, hose and nozzle attachments for different purposes, storage areas for accessories and trigger gun. Pressure washers are classified by wattage, water flow (how much water it sprays per hour) and pressure (measured in number of bars). The more bars, the stronger the water pressure.
There are light-duty and heavy-duty pressure washers for home use. Today’s compact pressure washer units resemble small vacuum cleaners. If you don’t have a lot of storage space in your garage, like me, most models are small enough to store in a closet or cabinet.
What are the different Types of Pressure Washers?
Electric Pressure Washers
An electric pressure washer should be plugged into an electrical outlet. It cleans small decks and patios, furniture, windows and does other simple tasks. Compact pressure washers require little upkeep without any exhaust emissions.
The pressure washers start and stop with a trigger and are small enough to be stored indoors without winterizing. Electric pressure waters provide less water pressure than petrol pressure washers, which means slower cleaning.
Wands and nozzles are less durable and usually made of plastic instead of metal. You need to be near an electrical outlet or use an extension cord to use an electric pressure washer.
These pressure washers won’t serve your needs if you have a large garden or yard (or no outdoor electrical outlets).
Petrol Pressure Washers
Used to quickly clean decks, siding, and other large areas as well as whisking away gum, sap, and tough stains. Petrol washers are noisier, and dangerous if not used according to directions. Since you don’t need to plug the pressure washer into an electrical outlet, you can move freely from task to task around your yard.
What Can I Clean With a Pressure Washer?
Low-pressure washers clean cars, bicycles, ATVs, outdoor furniture, charcoal grills, windows, golf carts, wheelchairs and floor mats. High-pressure washers work harder to clean areas and items, including vet kennels, dumpsters or large garbage cans, driveways, siding and brick and stone work.
A high-power petrol pressure washer may strip off your car’s paint, so always use an electric pressure washer for all personal vehicles.
Some heavy-duty, professional-grade pressure washers have a high-pressure output of up to 3000 or 4000 PSIs (pounds per square inch), to clean semi-trailers, strip paint and remove graffiti.
What is the Best Pressure Washer for Me?
Choose a pressure washer with the attachments you’ll need for your tasks (washing the patio, car, blasting off baked-on dirt and mud from brick or tires, etc.) An attachment for cleaning patios allows you to clean dirt off the surface instead of pushing it to the corners.
Other attachments let you clean roof gutters, second story windows, or clean narrow, hard to reach areas on a vehicle.
You’ll also need to consider the amount of area that needs cleaning. An electrical pressure washer works best on vehicles and small spaces. A petrol pressure washer gives you the freedom to clean several structures or walkways on a large property.
Finally, look at the pressure indicators. A lower bar pressure (110 or 120) cleans bicycles or vehicles without stripping off paint. A higher bar pressure (the high 100s up to 200 or more) means the pressure washer is geared for cleaning driveways, fences, siding and other heavy-duty projects.
