How to replace your pressure washer lance and gun

If your pressure washer lance or spray gun breaks you’d think it’ll be a nightmare to replace, but it often happens because lances are delicate. Luckily, the replacement process is simple.

First up, make sure you pick the right lance and gun. This will depend on the measurements so use the manual or look online for the right spec.

Got the right one?

  1. Switch the pressure washer off
  2. Remove the old lance from the high-pressure hose. Many pressure washers have quick fit connectors that make this easy, but you may have a screw fit to whizz around. Remember – ‘lefty-loosey righty-tighty’. Turn it left to loosen.
  3. Then take your new lance and clip it into place or thread in the new connector turning it ‘righty tighty’.

That’s it, but sometimes the connectors get stuck, especially if you don’t remove them very often.

If this is the case use a lubricant such as WD40, Vaseline or olive oil to loosen the connection. Try pushing them together then pulling apart.

A good tip is to apply lubricant to the connectors before you put them together to protect the ‘O’ rings and make future connections rust-free, quick and simple.
