H&S Heavy Duty Swivel Castor Wheels Review
These H&S furniture castors come with heavyweight non-marking polyurethane wheels and solid steel plates to fix them on to whatever needs moving. They roll smoothly on flat, even floors, but have enough height to get over small bumps and steps.
The brake levers are easily operated by foot and felt solid enough. Even though only two of the furniture castors have brakes, they are secure with both brakes applied. Although no fixings were supplied, we think the H&S castors are some of the best heavy duty low level castors available today.

GBL Heavy Duty Castor Wheels Set Review
Made with steel plate and featuring a double bearing system, the GBL Heavy Duty castor wheels are small but mighty. At only 70 mm in height overall, these GBL castor wheels are perfect for making things movable without adding too much to the object’s height.
We liked the no-nonsense black coating, as opposed to the normal bright silver finish on other castor wheels. They blend in well if you want discrete castors on items of furniture around the home.
The brakes feel solid, with a large foot lever for their small size, and the included fixings are fit for the task as well.

DSL 25 mm Small Rubber Castor Wheels Review
If you need slimline castor wheels that don’t increase the overall height of your target object too much, DSL’s 25 mm diameter castor wheels have got your back. Even though they’re only small, they can take enough weight for most home or garden jobs and won’t mark your floors either.
One of my favourite things about these castors is the thermoplastic rubber wheels. TPE is extremely hard wearing, helps with silent running, and won’t leave black streaks on pale floors. Compared with the monster H&S 75 mm wheels, these aren’t exactly heavy duty, but you don’t always need to move around tons of gear.
Two of the four castors in this set are braked, and you can easily set them with the foot levers that come with them. Mounting them to whatever you need to get moving is easy too, thanks to the included screws. You won’t need to search around for the correct hardware!

Skelang Retractable Levelling Machine Castors Review
Moving around equipment with castors is great, but what if you could also use them to level a heavy piece of equipment? These Skelang retractable levelling machine casters do just that. Simply roll your desired bit of kit into place and wind down the feet until everything’s plumb and true!
Designed to accommodate heavy things like workbenches, the design is pretty simple. The body of the caster is made from steel, and inside the casing is a threaded jack that raises or lowers a tough nylon wheel. Once you’re in place, wind the jack until the rubber foot takes the strain.
Although these castors aren’t braked, they can transform just about any big piece of machinery into something portable. If you’ve got a small workshop and you need to make the most of the space, these are a great option especially if your floor is less than flat.

Doublelife Heavy Duty Swivel Castor Wheels with Brake Review
Easily the smallest on our list, these Doublelife swivel castors have an excellent load rating, whilst being small enough to not add any extra width to whatever you attach them to. For their size, these Doublelife castors are the best extra heavy duty castors we’ve looked at.
It’s worth bearing in mind though that these castor wheels do not come with steel fixing plates though, they are mounted on 8 mm threaded bar. Whatever you want to attach it to will need an appropriate cavity, or space to bolt it on the other side.

H&S Heavy Duty 75 mm Rubber Castor Wheels Review
Not the only set of quality castors on my list from H&S, these are probably the best heavy duty castors you can get hold of right now. The uprated 75 mm diameter wheels travel easily over uneven surfaces and two of them have sturdy brakes.
The four-pack of castors comes with black rubber wheels. These are held in place by chunky steel swivel heads that are kept rolling with plain bearings. All four of them swivel through 360°, but two have large foot-operated brakes for keeping your load safe.
Each castor is rated for around 50 kg of weight, and the steel hardware is weatherproof for outdoor applications. If you want quiet running wheels and castors that won’t get stuck on the smallest bumps, these are a good bet but only if you provide your own fixings.

DSL Heavy Duty Double Bearing Braked Rubber Swivel Castor Wheels & Trolley Furniture Castors Review
When it comes to the best extra heavy duty castors, these DSL rubber furniture castors are the real deal. Rated for an astonishing 700 kg, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a stronger set of castors for the price.
The red no-scuff wheels on the DSL castors have solid wheel hubs and two sets of bearings for extra strength and smoothness, and four fixing points per castor for the nuts and bolts that come with them. The foot levers on the brakes are well made and easy to operate.
The feature we like most is the brakes. Having a brake on each of the four swivel castors was an excellent safety measure and meant that whatever you put these castor wheels on could be transformed into a solid surface, making these DSL castors some of the best heavy duty swivel castors around.
Coldene Set of Rubber Castors

Coldene Set of Rubber Castors Review
This set of Coldene rubber castors are made from durable pressed steel sheet, with natural rubber wheels. Strong enough to carry the heaviest of loads, they’re one of the best heavy duty castors with fully locking brakes. It’s just a shame that only two of the four rubber castors had these locks.
Our favourite feature on these Coldene castors are the clever locks that not only stop the wheels from turning, but locks the swivel as well. There’s no chance that the object they’re attached to will move when locked into position.
How to Choose The Best Heavy Duty Castor
Heavy furniture, workbenches or large machines are not normally considered to be portable. This doesn’t have to be the case if space is at a premium though. By using trolley wheels, dolly wheels, furniture castors, or just heavy weight castors, any wardrobe, bench or home appliance can be rolled to wherever it’s needed with minimal effort and maximum safety.
Construction
Whenever you’re dealing with very heavy weights, steel is a good choice for construction material. Even though it’s heavy, it’s incredibly strong and long-lasting. The best heavy duty castors have steel fixing plates for rigidity, and use one or two sets of steel bearings to swivel around without compromising on strength.
When it comes to tough trolley wheels or dolly wheels, you want resilient materials like natural rubber or polyurethane that can take heavy loads without deforming and developing flat spots. The other advantages of using rubber-like materials is that they won’t mark floors and are almost silent when in use.
Features to Look Out for
As important as making heavy things movable is, you also need to be able to stop them. Without good brakes, a heavy item of furniture on wheels is a disaster waiting to happen. Most heavy duty swivel castors use brakes that tighten on the rubber wheel itself, to make sure the wheel can’t slip under pressure.
Moving heavy items with swivel castors should be easy, but just like pushing a shopping trolley, it takes a bit of effort to move them in a straight line. You could opt for fixed castors on one end of the item, like a platform trolley would, but then you lose out on manoeuvrability. The best way to avoid mistakes is to go slowly and remember where the brakes are.
