Ring RIL4000 Ultra Bright LED Inspection Lamp Review
The Ring RIL4000 inspection lamp is part of the MAGflex product line and boasts a whole load of clever features. We especially like the two different light options – a front facing torch that casts a super strong beam, and a wide inspection light that’s perfect for illuminating a whole area.
You can use either of the two magnets to attach it to a metal surface- choose the flexible magnetic base to point a focused beam or the stronger bar magnet on the back to attach it to the inside of your car bonnet. And if there’s nothing metal, you can use one of the two hooks to hang it up where you like.
Recharging is easy with the included USB cable, and they even throw in a 12V charger for when you’re in the car. It’s the best inspection light we’ve tested out yet and would recommend it to anyone that wants a rugged, feature-packed work light.
Since 1974, Ring Automotive have specialised in trade lighting and have picked up over 190 products awards on the way. They produce a stunning range of specialist inspection lamps and what we think is the best LED rechargeable inspection lamp on the market today.

Rolson 61770 72 LED Inspection Lamp Review
The first thing you’ll notice about the Rolson 61770 inspection lamp is the sheer number of powerful LEDs available- 72 individual lights that work together to create a serious amount of illumination. It’s not a swivel light like some of the more expensive options, but you can stick it to a metal surface with the magnets on the back.
Although we prefer rechargeable lithium batteries, Rolson include the four AA batteries needed to power this handy inspection light. You could always use rechargeable batteries and keep the light running for as long as possible.
A familiar name to keen DIYers throughout the UK, Rolson tools is a reliable and affordable option for when you need the best LED inspection lamp for not a lot of money.

Blackspur BB-IL102 Mains Inspection Lamp Review
Blackspur are a dependable budget tool brand with literally thousands of products in their line. We got hold of their traditional style mains inspection lamp and tried it out. Compared to the others on the list, this lamp fits old-style E27 bulbs- but the cage it sits in is robust and will keep the bulb safe.
The benefit of this type of inspection lamp is that you don’t have to worry about recharging it or running out of batteries. A corded inspection lamp is perfectly good for use around the workshop where mains power isn’t an issue.
We think it’s the best inspection light that plugs into the mains, and the 5-metre cable makes it as portable as it can be without being battery powered.

Sealey LED3602 Rechargeable 360° Inspection Lamp Review
Bury St Edmunds-based Sealey make quality tools and have been doing so since 1974. They know a thing or two about making the best inspection lamps, so we got hold of their LED3602 device and put it to the test.
Because it’s a two-lamp device, you can choose between a focused beam like on a traditional torch or use the other lamp that casts a useful 120° wide arc of light. The series of rubberised magnets on the body allow you to attach it to metal, but our favourite feature must be the 360° positional joint that allows for hands-free precision lighting.
Constructed of tough plastic, it should hold up for a long time in the garage or workshop, and the 2.2Ah Lithium-ion battery will keep it shining for hours of good service.

Enuotek Cordless Work Light and Inspection Torch Review
Enuotek make lights and lightbulbs. What they don’t know about making the best LED inspection lamps isn’t worth knowing, so we knew we had to include one of their mechanic’s work lights on our list.
The rubberised body is rugged and easy to grip and it’s IP54 rated, meaning it’s very resistant to dust and water ingress. We like the double light function, and the magnetised surfaces make it totally versatile.
You can mount the magnetic end and position the focused torch, but it doesn’t have the 360° swivel you might find on some of the more expensive models on the list. It’s a handy rechargeable tool that makes it one of the best inspection lamps available right now.
How to Choose The Best Inspection Light
Working on your car or searching for something in the corner of your dark shed? You’ll need the best inspection light to illuminate the gloom.
Main Types
The two main types of inspection light are corded, and battery-powered. Since low wattage LEDs have become brighter, they have taken over the market because they can be charged by USB or with small battery packs.
You can still find good quality corded inspection lamps when portability isn’t a concern though.
As LED technology has improved, the best inspection lights have adopted COB and SMD-type LEDs which are brighter, more reliable and even lower power.
Useful Features
Having a powerful light is useful but being able to mount it where it’s needed will make it indispensable. When you’re working under a car bonnet or up in the loft, useful features like adjustable magnetic holders let you shine a light where you want, hands-free.
If you want to use your inspection lamp as a torch, you should choose one that comes with dual lights- a focused beam and a wide-angle light to illuminate an area.
