Facom SC.841A.3 Stainless Steel Electrician's Scissors Review
Facom are a French tool brand that make high-quality accessories for professionals and DIYers, and the Facom pair of heavy-duty snips we tested out are some of the best electrician scissors on the market.
The electrical scissors come in a hard-plastic holster with a clever locking system that should keep them safe and easy to throw in a rucksack without worrying about the blades ripping the fabric. There’s also an included belt clip on the reverse side.
The stubby steel blades are serrated for extra cutting power, and the pivot end of the cutting blades open wide enough to cut thicker cables. The handles are big enough for large hands, and there’s a lanyard hole at the end in case you need to attach them to yourself when working at height.
One of our favourite features of this pair of electrical snips are the dedicated wire stripping notches that can safely tackle three different gauges of wire- 1.5, 2.5 and 4 mm, just a really useful innovation to make this a go-to tool for any professional electrician.

Engineer Compact Multi-Function Scissors Review
Japanese made tool brand Engineer have come up with these design award winning scissors that are razor sharp and offer four distinct functions in one small package.
The stainless-steel blades of these Engineer Multi-Function Scissors have a flat portion, micro serrations, wire cutters and even a box cutter. They’re a truly versatile pair of electricians scissors that can cut through cables, sheet aluminium, rope and even CDs.
What makes us think these are the best electricians’ scissors is the seriously useful box cutting edge on the top of the blade. Instead of fumbling dangerously with an open pair to open a package, you can use the sharp reverse to get at what you want, safely and easily.
Our other favourite features are the handles. They’re packed with smart ideas that will save time and keep your fingers safe. The overlapping guard stops any chance of finger pinch, and the “S” shape of the handles means they fit neatly in your hand.

C.K Tools Electrician’s Scissors Review
Another heavy hitter in the best electricians scissor department are these C.K Tools electricians scissors. Already a well-respected brand, they know what professional electricians are looking for and have produced a precision tool in a small package.
Decked out in the instantly recognisable yellow and red rubberised plastic handles, you’re not likely to lose these in a dark tool box any time soon. The high-carbon steel blades are thick and robust, and have a self-sharpening hollow grind to them that will maintain the cutting edge.
These C.K. Tools electrical snips come with a pretty basic nylon carry pouch, but the adjustable nut on the fulcrum makes it hard to get in and out. This little niggle is the only thing we’d take away from what is otherwise one of the best electrician scissors available right now.

Klein Tools 2100-8 Stainless Steel Scissors, Electrician Free Fall Snips Review
The Klein Tools Free-Fall snips we tested are professional quality electricians scissors made for cable preparation purposes in the electrical and communications industries. Klein Tools make some of the best electricians scissors out there, and don’t disappoint with this pair.
Made from stainless rather than high-carbon steel, there’s less chance of corrosion or rust forming, and because they’ve been forged and sharpened for precision cutting, you can be confident that these Klein Tools electrical snips will keep doing the job well for many years.
Our favourite feature has the be the “free-fall” design of these scissors. Free fall style electrical snips mean that they fall open after making cuts rather than stay closed like normal scissors. This helps to prevent hand fatigue when making lots of cuts.
The scraper and file on the outside of the blade are well machined and should save the cutting edges for what they’re really meant to do. The extra-long top handle also helped add a little more leverage, and comfort when in use.

Jonard Tools Heavy-Duty Electrician’s Scissors Review
With a 70-year history producing specialist telecommunication products, Jonard Tools know a thing of two about making the best scissors for electricians.
Made from chrome vanadium steel and specially reinforced for long-term use, their beauty is in their simplicity. Jonard Tools Electrician Scissor are a traditional style of electrical snips that might not be the ideal tool for cutting hundreds of cables on a day-to-day basis, but are the best electricians scissors for smaller installations and repair work.
We really like the scraper and file on the back of the blades as well, they make cleaning up wires an easy job, especially when the knurling stretches all the way along the blade.
Electricians Scissors Buyer’s Guide
You might think you could get away with using a normal pair of scissors to cut electrical or data cables, but electrician’s scissors are specifically designed with the job in mind, and will cut through cables as easy as a sheet of paper.
Main Features
The best electrician scissors need to be able to perform both of the following tasks…
Cutting cables is an obvious feature, but is made much easier with micro serrations on the blade as featured on the Engineer Compact Multi-Function scissors.
Stripping wires is made easy with dedicated wire stripping notches. These are found either on the back of the blade as in the Jonard electrician scissors, or with dedicated gauge-specific notches like those on the Facom heavy-duty scissors.
