Table Tennis Table Cover Reviews

Editors Choice
  • Nylon straps make it easy to secure the cover to the table
  • Waterproof fabric will keep table dry and allow it to be stored outside
  • Straps are sufficient to keep the cover in place during high winds
  • Fabric is heavy, thick and feels good quality
  • Arrives in its own bag for storage if needed

  • Check measurements carefully as may be too long for some tables, causing it to get stuck under the wheels
  • Undoing all straps can take longer than typical elasticated drawstrings

If you’re after a heavy-duty cover, this Dokon Table Tennis Table Cover is made from durable Oxford fabric. It’s weather resistant, with high-quality straps to secure it down, and fits a range of tables.

The cover is designed to protect not only from rain, but from wind and UV as well, making it possible for table tennis tables to be stored outside year-round.

The 600D Oxford fabric is heavy and thick, lined with a water-resistant backing to keep moisture out. It’s intended to fit a variety of tables, not just those of a specific size or brand, and measures 165 x 70 x 185 cm.

For some tables, this may come up a little long; however, it does mean that the wheels can be covered too in many cases. Basically, it’s best to check the measurements carefully before purchase.

Unlike some of the more basic covers on the market, this option features strong straps, not just drawstring elastic. There are straps that can be secured partway down, as well as ones with quick-release buckles that fasten to the legs.

Overall, this is one of the best table tennis tables if you want something highly weather resistant and durable. The straps keep the cover secured during wind, whilst the waterproofing and UV-resistance protect the table rain or shine.

The main downside is its size, which may swamp some smaller tables and make them difficult to move around.

Runner Up
  • Fits well over Cornilleau tables
  • Does a good job at protecting your table from debris, dust and dirt
  • Relatively easy to put on and take off
  • Although not waterproof, offers some protection against showers
  • Eyelets at bottom allow string or elastic to run through to create a better fit around base of table

  • Not waterproof - won't protect tables stored outside from getting wet
  • Tarp material makes a lot of noise if there is any wind
  • Should only be used to protect an indoor table outside on fair days, otherwise table should be stored inside

There are several reasons why the Cornilleau PVC Table Cover is one of the best table tennis table covers currently on the market.

As a starter for 10 (or 11, as we’re playing table tennis!), it’s marked at an affordable price so you don’t have to feel like you’re breaking the bank after already having forked out for a table in the first place.

Made from durable polyethylene, there are straps in the corners to hold it in place. It fits well on Cornilleau tables, plus there are holes in the bottom which can be used to loop through string or elastic to secure it further.

Whilst not intended to be fully waterproof, this cover will protect the table from light showers and, most importantly – dirt and dust. It wouldn’t be advisable to keep an indoor table outside solely using this cover throughout the year; however, it will keep it clean inside, as well as protected during fair-weather days outside too.

It has a depth of 250 mm at the top and 850 mm at the bottom in order to fit over different parts of the table – you just need to make sure this is compatible with yours. According to Cornilleau, this cover is only compatible with their tables.

Overall, this is a relatively robust cover that can be attached securely to the table. It’s one of the best table tennis covers for indoor storage, particularly as it offers a small amount of rain protection too – useful if rain suddenly starts to threaten whilst you’re playing outside.

Also Good
  • Air vents allow air to circulate within the cover which can prevent mould
  • Easy to put on and take off due to open sides
  • Made from sturdy, heavy duty material that offers your table good protection against wind and rain
  • Fits majority of table tennis tables thanks to the size and adjustability
  • All fastenings are good quality - strong Velcro as well as decent click-release straps

  • May swamp smaller tables making them difficult to move without catching cover in wheels

If you’ve often struggled to get table covers on and off, this ELTORE Table Tennis Table Cover has a slit up the side which makes things a whole lot easier. It’s also waterproof, breathable, and easy to secure.

Measuring 145 cm tall, the depth is 24 cm at the top and 82 cm at the bottom. It’s 160 cm wide, making it universally sized – capable of fitting over the majority of tables.

Also, as mentioned, it has open sides that fasten with Velcro to make it easier to put on and take off. The cover is secured using click-release clip straps that allow it to be fastened quickly without having to adjust the length of the straps each time.

The overall construction is strong and robust, with several customers reporting that they have used this cover for several years without experiencing problems with durability.

There’s also an additional wind vent, to allow air to circulate. This is designed to help prevent moisture getting trapped inside, without allowing water in. In turn, this should stop mould and mildew building up.

Given that this cover features open sides, with strong, secure Velcro fastenings, it’s one of the best table tennis table covers to remove and replace quickly. On top of this, it is extremely durable and seems to be of high quality, effectively protecting the table from heavy rain as well.

  • Strikes a good balance between quality and price - will protect your table through most weather in the spring/summer months
  • Open flap down the side makes it a lot easier to put on and take off
  • Fits well over the majority of KETTLER tables

  • May lift off in heavy winds as there are no straps, although wind vent reduces some lift
  • More Velcro down the side would help with lining up the closure and keeping it sealed - air can blow in as is
  • Cover should not be exposed to hot conditions as it can melt

For anyone with a KETTLER table, this KETTLER Table Tennis Table Cover offers an easy way to keep it clean and dry.

It’s been designed to specifically fit the dimensions of KETTLER models, including their standard and large tables. Made from durable PVC, it’s coated with a weatherproof backing to protect the table from rain, and it’s also UV resistant to prevent fading and cracking in the cover itself.

The sides are open, which makes the cover easier to pull on and off, and they fasten with Velcro. Unfortunately, there are no drawstrings or straps to secure the cover in place underneath the table, which can result in it occasionally blowing off during high winds.

There is, however, an air vent, which will somewhat reduce the amount of lift caused by gusts. The vent will also keep help keep condensation, mildew and mould at bay.

In order to reduce wear on the cover, the corners have been reinforced to make them thicker and more durable. This is a feature that isn’t always present on table covers, even though the corners can receive the most wear.

Naturally, this is one of the best table tennis table covers to go for if you have a KETTLER table, due to the fit it will offer; however, there are a few problems. Firstly, as mentioned, there’s no way to strap the cover down which can see it coming off in windy conditions.

Secondly, it’s not suitable for use in prolonged scorching weather because the plastic can start to become sticky.

  • Tie cords allow you to adjust the fit to suit your table
  • Lightweight so easy to put onto most full size tables
  • A good budget option with waterproof qualities

  • Not quite long enough for some full-size tables - may leave the wheels exposed to the elements
  • Thinner than some covers so care should be taken when putting it on and taking it off

Waterproof table covers on a budget aren’t always easy to find, but this 100% polyester Wollowo Table Tennis Table Cover offers rain protection, reasonable quality, and versatile sizing – all for an economics price.

It’s a relatively generic size, at 158 cm long and 135 cm tall. It has a depth of 25 cm at the top and 85 cm at the bottom. This makes it suitable to fit most standard table tennis tables, protecting them from rain, dust and dirt.

However, do check the dimension first, as it can be a little short on some full-size models, leaving the wheels exposed.

Made from polyester, this cover has eyelets in the bottom, and comes cord provided, which can be laced through used to secure the cover in place. Whilst this is more time consuming than some ways of securing table tennis table covers, it does help stop the cover from blowing off.

Most customers have reported that it keeps their table dry from rain, which makes it good value for money; it’s one of the best table tennis table covers to buy on a budget, especially if you want something that also has waterproof qualities.

The main thing to bear in mind is that, as mentioned, it may come up a little short on some full-size tables.

Clive's Smart Buying Tips

  1. If you plan to keep your table outside, you’ll need a thick, heavy-duty cover that’s rain resistant. In this case, I particularly recommend looking for an Oxford fabric cover with a waterproof backing – this is a strong, tough fabric. Additionally, for outdoor storage, look for a cover with adjustable straps and clips to keep it securely in place. Elasticated drawstrings work well for indoor storage, but can billow in the wind outside.
  2. You’ll also need to think about UV resistance if storing your table outside. When buying a cover, make sure it’s UV resistant, as this will stop your table from fading in the sun.
  3. Even if you store your table inside, it can help for the cover to offer some rain protection. The best table tennis covers will protect the table from light showers, dirt, and dust, even if it’s primarily intended for indoor use.
  4. There are a couple of additional features that are worth looking out for. Choosing a cover with air vents can help prevent damp. This is particularly important if the fabric is completely waterproof and not breathable. Also, if you think you’ll struggle to get the cover off the table, an option with open sides may make this easier.

As my top recommendation, I’ve chosen the Cornilleau PVC Table Cover. This indoor cover is robust and secure, made from durable polyethylene with straps in the corners to hold it in place. It will protect from light rain showers, dirt and dust.

How to Choose the Best Table Tennis Table Cover

Provided they are looked after properly, table tennis tables can last for a very long time – one way of protecting them is to cover them up when not in use.

If you are planning on leaving your table tennis table outside year-round, you’ll need a good quality cover. In fact, even if you’re storing your table inside, a cover can help elongate its lifespan and prevent the accumulation of dust.

Choosing the best table tennis table will depend on the size of your cover, and what you want the cover to achieve. The following information should help give more idea about what to look for:

Benefits of a Table Tennis Table Cover

Anything that helps your table tennis table stay functional year after year has got to be a good thing, right?

Leaving your table outside without a cover makes it susceptible to weather damage and dirt. Meanwhile, leaving it inside with no cover can lead to a build up of dust.

UV rays can also damage the table, along with rain, so a UV-resistant cover can also help limit fading and sun damage.

Using a table cover will keep your table clean. Fallen leaves and debris can build up on your table, and you may end up spending more time cleaning it than actually playing. A cover will keep your table clean when it’s not in use so it’s always ready for the next game.

Another advantage of a cover is that the table surface will remain scratch-free. Scratches and dents can cause the ball to bounce unevenly, which will change your playing experience. Although most tables are stored in a folded position, a cover can still prevent stones and branches falling onto the playing surface and causing damage.

Types of Table Tennis Table Covers

Some covers are intended to keep table tennis tables clean whilst they’re kept inside. Others are more heavy duty, and will protect from rain.

You’ll need to decide between either an indoor or an outdoor cover. Make sure not to get caught on when buying table tennis table covers – it can be easy to presume that they’ll all be waterproof, which isn’t the case!

Indoor covers protect your table while it’s indoors in storage. These can be used in any indoor space, including sheds and garages. They will protect your table from dust, dirt and damage.

Indoor covers cannot be used outside as they lack the necessary weather resistance. If you do move your table outside for summer, you’ll have to make sure to only keep it outdoors in fair weather.

Outdoor covers are generally thicker and have better weather resistance. For a cover to be successful when used outside, it not only needs to be waterproof but also well secured. The best table tennis table covers for outside use will have straps and clips to make sure the cable isn’t going to budge. Often, these are better than just elasticated drawstrings.

Additional Design Features

There are a few features that are present on some, but not all, table tennis tables. You may choose to look out for them, or decide they’re not important to you:

  • Air vents

These can be useful whether storing the table inside or outside. When items are stored over winter, they have a tendency to get a little damp. This is often the case whether they are kept in conservatories, garages, or sheds. Naturally, items kept outside will also be susceptible to damp. Air vents stop moisture from getting trapped under the cover which can cause mildew, damp and mould. Having a cover with air vents can also reduce how much it is able to be lifted and carried by the wind.

  • Open sides

A common problem with table tennis table covers is that they split when trying to put them on or take them off. This often happens because the cover is being pulled over the sharp corners of the table. Open sides can make it a lot easier to get the cover on. However, it’s important that the sides fasten securely, to stop them from getting blown open.

Choosing the Right Size

There are a couple of things to know when choosing the right size cover for your table tennis table.

First of all, what type of table do you have? Is it full size, or Âľ size? A lot of covers are designed for full-size tables unless specified otherwise. These can really swamp Âľ size tables, catching in the wheels and making them difficult to move. Therefore, this information is useful to know from the offset, before starting to look at covers.

If your table tennis table is a certain brand, you may be able to find a cover made by the same company. Brands will often sell covers for specific table models, or generic covers that will fit the majority of tables they make. This is one way to be more certain that the cover will fit, although you should always still check the measurements just in case.

Otherwise, your best bet is to measure your table (when it’s folded) and look for covers with the same dimensions. Leave approximately 3 cm extra wiggle room on all sides, otherwise you’ll have a nightmare when it comes to trying to get the cover on.

Adjustable straps, bungee cords and elasticated drawstrings can all help improve the fit of a slightly loose cover.

Material and Weather Resistance

Are you storing your table tennis table indoors or outside? This will make a difference with the type of cover you should buy.

Whilst some of the best table tennis table covers will sufficiently protect the table from rain, snow, and moisture, it’s still not a bad idea to store the table inside when the weather takes a turn for winter. Nevertheless, if there’s not enough space indoors, some heavy-duty covers will be sufficient. But which ones?

Oxford fabric with a waterproof backing will protect the table from rain. It is generally heavyweight, and feels higher quality than PVC and vinyl covers. An Oxford fabric cover will likely be more expensive, but it will be the best option to go for if appearances are important to you.

Another consideration is UV resistance. Bright sunshine can cause your table to fade, and not all fabric offers good UV protection. If a cover doesn’t specifically mention that it’s UV resistant, presume that it’s not.

Finally, choose a material that is breathable. Without good ventilation, you may find your table becomes damp and mouldy. For this reason, air vents are useful as well.

Table Tennis Cover FAQs

If you are going to leave your table outside year-round, a durable, weatherproof cover is essential. No matter how weather resistant your table appears, it will suffer if left outside, exposed. The colour can fade in the sunlight, and the adhesive that keeps the playing surface in place can start to become unstuck. Not to mention, rust can start to develop on metal components that have been exposed to too much moisture.

Ideally, you should still keep your table tennis table inside over winter if possible. Even the best table tennis table covers may falter in extreme weather. Plus, your table may get blown over or damaged in another way. In the winter months, when you’re not playing as often, it’s best kept inside a shed or garage.

Whilst almost all table tennis tables can be used inside, not all are suitable for outdoor use.

Indoor tables are usually made from solid wood, while outdoor tables are made from a combination of materials, including metal. They are usually finished with a coating to protect the table from sun damage, rain and wind.

Another difference becomes clear when playing the game. Outdoor tables tend not to have quite as good bounce, as the surface absorbs more of the ball’s energy. For this reason, playing outside can feel a little slower (wind depending!). Indoor tables on the other hand can have slightly more bounce, so you may find the game feels faster.

Naturally, the first thing to do is scrupulously measure your table tennis table and check those dimensions against the cover you’re thinking to buy. Be aware that some covers have less depth at the top, and more at the bottom, so keep an eye on all the measurements and make sure they’ll work with your table.

You should add at least 3 cm to the measurements you’ve taken, to leave enough wiggle room to get the cover on and off. Plus, it’s a good idea to choose a cover with open sides. This can make it a lot easier to get the cover in position. Most of the time, open sides will do up with sturdy Velcro, so you shouldn’t have to worry about them coming open in the wind.
