Envii Pond Klear – Green Water Treatment is the best pond water treatment because it is easy to use, a bottle goes a long way and it effectively clears green water.
This pond treatment works by binding together suspended particles to reduce green and cloudy water. How to Choose The Best Pond Water Treatment
Our DIY Garden experts are huge advocates of a water feature. Bringing that tranquil trickling to soothe you on a sunny day, I’m a firm believer that a water feature can totally transform your garden. And where better to start than with a gorgeous garden pond?Â
Any garden pond owners will know that this delightful water feature requires some careful maintenance to keep it looking and functioning at its very best. Achieving algae-free, perfectly clear water can feel like an impossible task at times, but often it’s simply a case of finding the right water treatment.Â
Treating your pond with a bacterial product on a regular basis will help prevent algae, improve the health of your fish and keep your water looking clearer.Â
If you’re looking for the best pond treatment money can buy, the following tips will help you to make the right decision.Â
Benefits of Treating your Pond Water
Treating your pond water has a number of benefits and regular treatment is key.Â
To start, treating your pond can break down excessive muck and algae. Your water will be clearer and healthier than it was before. If you’re after a crystal clear pond, treating your pond water on a regular basis is the first step.
Not only that, adding good bacteria to your pond will enhance its hygiene and help your plants to thrive!
Treating your pond water will also help your filter to last longer. By breaking down organic muck in your pond, there will be less for your filter to cope with – saving you money and time spent regularly cleaning your filter. You should also find your filter lasts a lot longer.Â
Types of Pond Treatment
There’s two main types of pond treatment; bacterial and algae control.
Bacterial pond treatments add beneficial bacteria to your pond water. This balances the natural bacteria in your pond, clearing the water and keeping it healthier.Â
Algae control treatments will help control the amount of algae in your pond. Too much algae is bad for the health of your plants and fish, while it can also cause skin irritation in humans. However, many algae control treatments are toxic for marine life – so I highly recommend removing any fish from your pond before treating.Â
How Many Litres of Water Can it Treat?
It’s important that your pond treatment can treat your entire pond, and most pond treatment bottles will display how many litres they are able to treat.Â
The treatments I’ve recommended can treat between 9000L and 20,000L. If you have a larger pond, you’ll need to purchase additional treatment.Â
If you aren’t going to use all your pond treatment at once, take a look at the shelf life to ensure you can store your treatment until you next need it.Â
Ease of Use
Contrary to believe, there’s no need to empty your entire pond to treat it. Looking after your pond is a whole lot easier than that!
However, it’s still important that your treatment is easy to use, especially because they are filled with lots of chemicals. All the treatments I’ve recommended are very easy to use, while some have a dosage chamber so you’ll be able to administer the correct amount for the size of your pond.
Temperature Range
If your pond treatment contains bacteria, the temperature range is important. Not all bacteria work in all temperatures, and some treatment may need a warmer or cooler pond.Â
The treatments I have recommended generally have a wide temperature range which makes them suitable for most garden ponds in a range of weather conditions.Â
Pond Water Treatment FAQs
How do you apply water treatment to your pond?     Â
Different pond water treatments work in different ways so be sure to follow the instructions that come with you product.
To use Pond Klear you should follow these instructions.
- Calculate the volume of your pond so you know how much treatment to use
- Clean out filters
- Add 25ml (per 1,136 litres) to a bucket of pond water
- Stir and distribute evenly in pond
Pond treatments may take up to 6-8 weeks to completely clear badly affected ponds. Some treatments require two doses at intervals so do check the instructions that come with your product. The Evolution Aqua Pure Pond treatment should be added to your pond filter.
Can you put too much bacteria in a pond?Â
It’s possible to have too much of a good thing, but this doesn’t appear to be the case when it comes to beneficial bacteria.Â
While you don’t want to add too much treatment to your pond, the biggest risk is generally that it’s a waste of money. If your pond has too much bacteria, the weaker bacteria will die and the population will reduce meaning you’ll require more treatment than you would otherwise.Â
