Sigma 6053820 2B3 26 Inches Pull Tile Cutter Review

Another big name in the tiling industry, Sigma is an Italian tiling tool company with more than fifty years’ experience developing professional quality equipment. The 6053820 Sigma Pull Tile Cutter we tried was ready to go straight from the box and one of the best ceramic tile cutters we’ve ever used.

A great feature of this porcelain tile cutter has to be the adjustable angle bracket. With a turn of a handle, you can manually change the angle from –45° to 45°. The bar itself can be removed and placed on different sides of the cutting handle, giving you endless options when it comes to cutting tiles.

The integrated ruler takes all the effort out of making accurate cuts as well. Being able to measure cuts without removing the tile from the cutter will speed up jobs and limit mistakes.

Vitrex 102360TC 10 2360 50cm Heavy-Duty Tile Cutter Review

Vitrex are another specialist tile and flooring company with roots dating back to the 1930’s, and their 102360 heavy-duty tile cutter we tried out shows their level of expertise.

It’s simple enough to be used by a DIYer without any previous experience. Simply line up the tile on the black plastic guard, and score along the line with the tungsten carbide wheel. For most bathroom and kitchen jobs, it’s the best dry tile cutter at this price point.

One of the more heavy-duty tile cutters in the list, this is the best tile snap cutter for tiles up to a huge 12 mm thick. This means you can cut the thickest floor tiles without breaking a sweat.

VonHaus 430mm Manual Tile Cutter Review

The VonHaus Manual Tile Cutter is a robust yet portable dry tile cutter. Another simple design that we think is ready to go out of the box for any DIYer, there isn’t much that can go wrong here.

We really liked the ergonomic handle. When you’re scoring large numbers of tiles, you need a comfortable handle and firm grip. The VonHaus tile cutter handle felt comfortable and was one of the best manual tile cutter handles on the list, even at this price.

The rubber base was a nice touch as well, it gripped on to the tiles we cut easily and helped keep them in place with minimal downward pressure. Overall, this is an impressive porcelain tile cutter tool at this price point, we just wish it could fit larger tiles.

Amtech S4425 16-Inch Tile Cutter Review

Amtech make quality budget-friendly tools for DIYers, and this lightweight and portable S4425 tile cutter was surprisingly good compared to some of the more expensive manual tile cutters we have tested out.

Don’t let the lightweight fool you though, because the base is made of steel and very rigid. Alongside the foam backing, it won’t slip when cutting tiles unless you’re not paying attention. For a tool that’s so inexpensive, it’s one of the best tile cutters for porcelain or ceramic on the list.

The only difference with this tile cutter is that you need to keep some pressure on the edge of the tile to get a really smooth finish, but as long as you keep that in mind this tiling tool will serve you well.

How to Choose The Best Tile Cutter

Tiles have been used to cover floors and walls for thousands of years, but the best tile cutters have only been available for less than a hundred. With tungsten carbide cutting wheels and steel guide rails, it’s now easy to cut laser-straight lines in a range of tile materials.

Main Features

When you’ve got to tile a bathroom or kitchen, the majority of cuts you’ll have to make are at 90° or 45°, so a good adjustable guide is essential. The Sigma 6053820 has a fully adjustable guide, but cutting a straight line at any angle is simple.

Most of the best manual tile cutters use a tungsten carbide wheel to score the surface of the tile where the cut needs to be. This can either be a push or pull motion, so check what yours is before starting.

Once the score has been made, you can break the tile cleanly with the included foot, operated by the handle. It’s easy to start, and not much more difficult to master with the best tile snap cutters on this list.
