Shed Roofing Felt FAQ
How to felt a shed roof?
Felting a shed roof isn’t as difficult as it looks, although you may want to enlist the help of a friend. Some DIY experience is handy but not essential.
First, measure your shed along the bottom of the roof and up to the middle. The felt should overhang the end by around 5cm.
Cut the strips of felt roof to the right length using a knife, including the 5cm overhang. Nail the first strip along the top edge, placing each nail around 5cm apart. Then fold the overhang and fix this in place using more nails.
Take the second length of felt and position this slightly on top of the first sheet (overlapping by about 7cm). Nail the top of this strip then apply an adhesive where the 2 sheets of felt overlap.
Continue nailing the lengths of felt in place, until one side of the roof has been fully covered. A capping sheet can be fitted along the ridge, equally overhanging both sides of the roof and overlapping the top sheets of felt.
