Pallet Truck Reviews
1. LoadSurfer 2,500 kg Hand Pump Pallet Truck
Best budget pallet truck
- An inexpensive pallet truck that can transport heavy loads over flat surfaces.
- The uncomplicated hydraulic pump action doesn’t rely on batteries and is easy to operate for almost anyone.
- Weighing 78 kg without a load on board, this is a heavy beast. The strength to weight ratio is much less compared with the LiftMate DF25’s 59 kg frame.

Materials handling masters LoadSurfer have made it their goal to help you move heavy things without breaking your back. Their 2,500 kg PTLS-2.5N hand pump pallet truck is the right answer to the question of how you should move a palletised load. It’s a capable and budget-friendly tool that’s a terrific addition to any workshop or warehouse.
Built from tough materials and featuring grippy polyurethane wheels, you get plenty of grip to keep loads safely on the truck. Using a hydraulic hand pump action, you can lift up to 2,500 kg of load on the pair of 540 mm wide tapered forks that make pallet mating much easier. Each fork measures 160 mm across and leaves 220 mm between them.
Weighing 78 kg without a load on board, this is a substantial piece of kit that makes use of three handle positions to raise, lower, and steer the truck. And because it comes fully assembled, you don’t need to fiddle around with it when it arrives.

2. LiftMate 2,500kg Capacity Hand Pump Pallet Truck
Best pallet truck for lighter loads
- The hydraulic lifting mechanism features a clever overload protection valve. This means that if the load exceeds 2,500 kg it won’t roll, to help avoid damage to the mechanism.
- Nylon wheels are usually harder and smoother than polyurethane ones. These properties make them easier to push around on hard surfaces.
- If you’re on a budget, then the price of this truck compared with the LoadSurfer PTLS-2.5N is hard to justify. It has a similar weight limit and design, which might put off some users.

Warehouse equipment manufacturer LiftMate make tools that help you move stuff around. Whether they’re sack trolleys or hand trailers, they know a thing or two about how to make the best pump truck. The DF25 manual pallet truck is reasonably lightweight and can carry heavy loads around on flat surfaces. It’s much easier than trying to pick up a heavy load on your own.
Boasting chunky white nylon wheels that won’t mark polished floors, this pallet truck handles loads up to 2,500 kg without complaint. Raising or lowering the pair of standard 540 mm wide powder-coated forks is done manually with the large black handle, while each 160 mm wide fork tine features the same nylon wheels to load standard Euro pallets easily.
Weighing in at a spritely 59 kg, it’s an easy truck to move around, even when bearing a heavy load. You can pump the forks up from between 80 – 200 mm off the deck as well, which makes this a versatile handling tool for all sorts of materials. I think it’s one of the best lightweight manual pallet trucks available right now.

3. BiGDUG Deluxe Wide 3,000 kg Manual Pallet Truck
Best pallet truck for load capacity
- I like the addition of a free pallet truck chock. This little ramp device can be placed anywhere you like and works as a free standing brake for the truck, keeping it just where you want.
- With a maximum load rating of 3,000 kg, this is a capable truck for wide pallets.
- You’ll need to carefully measure your pallets before buying the BiGDUG. At 680 mm wide, the forks won’t fit smaller size 540 mm standard Euro pallets.

With everything from heavy-duty workshop shelving to anti-fatigue safety matting, BiGDUG make everything you need for storage in the workshop or around the warehouse. The BDPT611B wide fork pallet truck is big enough for all wider-width pallets. With an impressive maximum weight rating, this heavy-duty pallet truck is perfect for the heaviest loads you can throw at it.
The chunky blue frame with its blue powder-coated finish is designed to cope with the heaviest warehouse burdens. Able to lift a maximum 3,000 kg weight to a height of 85 mm using a hydraulic manual pump handle, this truck is designed for working with 680 mm wide pallets.
Rolling on silent rubber tandem wheels on the back, and dual nylon wheels on the front, it’s smooth to push or pull around. And with several pumps of the chunky handle, you can move around whatever you want.

4. LiftMate Semi Electric 1,500 kg Pallet Truck
Best semi-electric pallet truck
- If you’re moving pallets around all day long, it’s great to have an electric assist. Although you still need to pump the load up and down, it’s hardly as much effort as a manual pump truck.
- The Lithium-Ion battery can charge to full in as little as two hours.
- The onboard LED battery indicator lets you know how much juice you have left before needing to plug in.
- Compared with the LoadSurfer PTLS-2.5N, this pump truck comes with an expensive price tag. And with a max load rating of 1,500 kg it can’t carry as much either.
- Thanks to the onboard electric motor, this beast weighs in at a massive 110 kg with the battery included. And that’s without a load on board. Make sure the batteries are charged!

Manual materials handling maestros LiftMate make a decent range of equipment for workshops and warehouses. The LEMP15M semi-electric pump truck takes most of the effort out of moving heavy items around on flat surfaces. Apart from pumping the forks up, this truck drives itself.
Built almost identically to a familiar manual pallet truck, this clever electric version hides an effort-saving motor. Controlled by a thumb switch, you can drive the pallet truck forwards or backwards with ease. Maxing out at a 1,500 kg load, you can raise and lower the 540 mm forks between 80 – 200 mm using a hand pump action.
Powered by a handy rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery, the challenging task of pushing or pulling pallets around is outdated. And with an emergency stop button, it’s a safer way to move heavy loads around a warehouse.

5. LiftMate Fully Electric 1,500 kg Pallet Truck
Best electric pallet truck
- Perfect for a busy warehouse where you’re moving hundreds of loads per day, you can get a lot more work done with an electric pallet truck than with a manual version.
- Operating the controls is easy and intuitive. The thumb switches control forward and reverse while the buttons control the fork height.
- You need to use this pallet truck a lot for it to pay for itself. Significantly more expensive than a manual pump truck, it’s definitely a pro-level handling tool.

Pallet Truck pros LiftMate produce a full range of materials handling equipment. And if you want the easiest way to drag around heavy equipment, their LEPT15M fully electric pallet truck takes almost all the effort out of the job. With electric driving and load lifting, it’s a breeze to transport items over flat surfaces.
Built from tough powder-coated steel and boasting a powerful electric motor and ergonomic handle, this pump truck can lift 1,500 kg and roll it around without you breaking a sweat. The forward accelerator and reverse controls are found on the handle, whilst raising and lowering the load on the standard 540 mm wide forks from 80 – 190 mm is achieved with the press of a button.
Weighing some 110 kg when the removable Lithium-Ion battery is in place, this is a heavy piece of kit, but that doesn’t matter when it’s all operated by the onboard motor. An effortless way to roll around heavy loads, it’s worth the big price tag.

How to Choose The Best Pallet Truck
Pallets changed the world and how we move things around. This standardised way of loading and shipping items makes life a lot easier, but only if you have the best pallet truck to get the job done. Whether it’s a basic manual or effort-saving electric pump truck, it’s certainly easier than moving heavy loads by hand.
Pallet Size
Although there are a bewildering array of pallets out there, the most common types you’ll see are the Euro size and the UK Standard. Most common pallets can be picked up by pump trucks with 540 mm wide forks, or large-size pallets with 680 mm wide forks.
Wheel Types
Most pallet trucks run on solid wheels that are most suited to hard floors like concrete or resin. Usually made from polyurethane, rubber, or nylon, you can get ones that are guaranteed not to mark floors. Outdoor or offroad pallet trucks will likely have pneumatic tyres that can deal with grass or dirt.
Manual or Electric
On the more affordable end of the pump truck scale are manual trucks. You push and pull these with your arms and legs, and pump the forks up and down with your arms. A semi-electric pallet truck will drive with the assistance of a motor but requires pumping up and down, whilst a fully electric pallet truck takes all the effort out of moving even heavy loads.
Pallet Truck FAQs
There are more than 100 different sizes and shapes of pallets out there. Although the term “standard” is used a lot, there’s no such thing as a truly universal pallet size or design. Most pallets come with markings stamped into their side though, which can help you find out.
It’s generally considered best practice to push a heavy load. Not only are you stronger at pushing than pulling, but if you slip then the load is moving away from your body, not towards it.
Being safe around a pallet truck is incredibly important. When you’re dealing with heavy loads, sometimes up to 3,000 kg, you need steel-toe safety shoes and good spatial awareness. Learning how your pallet truck steers and brakes before you take up a load is essential.
Electric pallet trucks feature an emergency stop button, but all types of pump trucks have braking systems on them. Some have foot brakes while the standard method of stopping a load from moving is to simply lower the forks to the floor. To stop a pallet truck from rolling around, a wheel chock is a handy accessory to have.
