The Jackery Portable Power Station Explorer tops our list as the best portable power station for a number of reasons. This power station is extremely versatile and is able to power a wide range power tools

The power station is designed for portability. It’s very compact, measuring 23 x 13.2 x 19.5 cm and it weighs just 3 kg.

The smart LED display shows the remaining battery life. It also shows the input and output power, so you can make sure you don’t overload the machine. Each output is clearly labelled and easy to find.

This power station is capable of powering up to four devices at the same time. It features: 1 x AC outlet (with a 230 V, 200 W output), 2 x USB-A ports and 1 x DC car port. It can be charged in three different ways using either a wall outlet, car outlet, or solar panels (though these need to be bought separately).

Although this unit does run fairly quietly, the fan noise can be distracting. If you are taking this power station camping, light sleepers may find it too noisy.

Although this is not the most powerful unit featured here, it offers a good balance of functionality and affordability. It’s the best power station overall based on its price and versatility. It’s a great option to keep in the home for using power tools, in case of a power cut,  or to bring power to areas such as workshops or garages.

If you’re looking for ultimate off-grid power, the Ecoflow DELTA 3 Plus is a real contender. Capable of powering most power tools and appliances, and light enough to take where you need it, it’s one of the best portable power stations on the market.

Delivering a robust 1,800 Watts of AC output that can be boosted to 2,400 Watts (with a convenient 3,600 Watts surge capacity), it’s capable of powering 99% of household appliances. And with an expandable capacity of 1,024 Watt hours that is extended to 2,000 Watt hours with the included extra battery, there’s usable power for days.

Recharging the power station can be done in several different ways. Standard mains charging, 12 Volt charging from your car’s cigarette lighter, and solar charging options are all available. It comes with a proprietary socket for Ecoflow’s own solar panels, but with an adapter lead you can use industry standard MC4 connectors found on almost all solar panels.

If you’re put off by the prospect of slow recharging, you can top off the DELTA 3 Plus from 0 to 100% in under an hour. It’s a hugely impressive feat for a large capacity power station like this.

The base unit features four three-pin AC plugs, a pair of USB-A sockets, a pair of high power 140 Watt USB-C sockets, and a DC socket, like one you would find in your car.

All in all, the Ecoflow DELTA 3 Plus strikes a near-perfect balance between portability, power, and versatility. Whether you’re preparing for unexpected outages, powering tools on a remote job site, or setting up a reliable off-grid camp, it delivers dependable energy when and where you need it. If you’re after a solar generator that’s fast to charge, easy to use, and powerful enough to handle almost anything, this one is hard to beat.

If you’re looking for a compact yet powerful portable power station to keep your tools and devices running seamlessly on the go, the Anker SOLIX C300 Portable Power Station is hard to beat. Despite its small footprint, it packs a serious punch with 300W continuous output (600W surge) and a robust 288Wh LiFePO4 battery, making it an excellent choice for powering cordless tool chargers, jobsite lighting, and other small to medium power tools.

One of the standout features for professionals and DIYers alike is the fast 140W two-way USB-C charging, letting you recharge the station itself or power tools and devices with impressive speed. When time is money on a busy project, this kind of fast turnaround is a huge advantage.

With seven versatile ports, including two AC outlets (300W) for tool chargers, a 12V car socket, multiple USB-C ports (140W + 15W), and a USB-A port, you can run or recharge up to seven devices simultaneously, ensuring you stay productive even far from the nearest outlet.

Portability is another strong point: at 15% smaller than similar designs, it’s easy to carry by hand or attach a strap (sold separately) for hassle-free transport between job sites or outdoor projects. And at just 25dB noise output, it’s remarkably quiet—even quieter than a library—so it won’t disrupt your workflow or your peace of mind in quiet settings.

The SOLIX C300 also supports multiple recharging options, including ultra-fast charging from a wall outlet (80% in just 50 minutes), solar panels like the Anker SOLIX 100W, your car, or even via the 140W USB-C PD port. This flexibility means you’ll never be left without power, no matter where your work or travels take you.

Durability is a major plus, too. With LiFePO4 batteries rated for 3,000 cycles, smart temperature control, impact resistance, and a 5-year warranty, this unit is built to last up to 10 years, providing reliable performance project after project.

Overall, the Anker SOLIX C300 is a top-tier choice for anyone who needs reliable, fast, and quiet portable power for tools and devices, whether you’re working off-grid, camping, or preparing for emergencies.

If you need an ultra-portable way to keep your essential power tools and devices running without breaking the bank, the SinKeu Portable Power Station is a smart choice. With a capacity of 99 Wh, it’s perfect for topping up cordless tool batteries or keeping your devices charged on small jobs or weekend projects where power outlets aren’t available.

Weighing just 1.88 kg, it’s incredibly lightweight—making it easy to carry to remote sites or stow in your work vehicle. Despite its compact size, this power station packs enough punch to recharge drills, impact drivers, or lights, helping you stay productive on short tasks away from mains power. And in the event of a power cut at home, it’s a handy emergency backup to keep small tools or essential devices running.

The SinKeu station offers six versatile outputs: a 230 V AC socket for tool chargers, two 12 V DC ports, two 5 V USB ports, and a USB-C port—giving you flexibility to power everything from cordless tools to work lights or laptops.

Charging the power station is simple and convenient: you can recharge it in about five hours via a wall outlet, or use a car port or solar panel to top it up on the go. For added safety, it features over temperature, over power, and overcurrent protection, giving you peace of mind while you work.

The built-in LED light is perfect for illuminating dark job sites or as an emergency beacon, with torch, strobe, and SOS modes to signal for help if needed. However, it’s important to note that while the unit is sturdy enough for outdoor use, it isn’t weatherproof, so you’ll need to protect it from rain or moisture.

All things considered, the SinKeu Portable Power Station is the best budget-friendly option if you need lightweight, portable power for small tools and essentials. While it doesn’t have the capacity for heavy-duty equipment, it’s an excellent companion for light jobs, short camping trips, or as a compact backup when the lights go out.

Harry's Smart Buying Tips

Portable power stations are great to own whether you’re camping outdoors, hiking through the mountains, working off-grid or in need of emergency power during a power cut.

  1. They differ from standard power stations because they are specifically designed for portability – the power stations featured on this list weigh a maximum of 10.7 kg, with most weighing just a couple of kilograms.
  2. The size is also important. Compact power stations (no bigger than 30 x 30 cm) are easiest to fit in your car or a backpack.
  3. For charging small devices, a power station with a capacity of up to 150 – 300 Wh will suffice. This can be used to charge laptops and phones during a power cut, for example.
  4. Large devices like TVs and mini fridges will require a power station with a capacity of 400 – 500 Wh. Bear in mind that these are often heavier.
  5. Models with a three pin AC power outlet will allow you to plug in a variety of devices.
  6. Take note of how your portable power station can be charged. Many can be charged using solar panels, but you’ll need to keep the weight of these in mind if you are planning on bringing them with you on trips away. Most can be charged using both a wall outlet and a car outlet

After comparing various portable power stations, it’s the Jackery Portable Power Station Explorer that claims my top spot. This power station has a 500 W capacity which means it can be used to power laptops, power tools and drones. It’s easy to charge using solar panels.
