1. WORX Hydroshot Portable Pressure Washer[ SAVE 12% ]

Best cordless pressure washer

best cordless portable pressure washer WORX Hydroshot Portable Pressure Washer
  • Pumps out a lot of power even when drawing from a portable water source
  • One of the quietest pressure washers tested - shouldn't be too disruptive for neighbours or wildlife
  • 5 spray angles range from 'pencil' jet spray to a wider, gentler spray, so a lot of options depending on the job
  • Just one button to press to switch between high pressure and low pressure setting which is useful for saving battery life
  • Long 30 minute battery life is quite substantial for a batter-powered pressure washer

  • Can't be used to clean pets as there isn't an ideal spray setting - the jets are too strong, and the gentle sprays are too wide
  • Charge time is relatively long at 3 - 4 hours
  • Only the pencil jet is strong enough to remove thick algae, and it's not practical to try to clear a large patio area with such a narrow jet

The WORX Hydroshot is one of the most popular and well-known cordless pressure washers on the market.

It’s an excellent all-rounder that delivers in all the ways you’d expect. Out of the washers I tested, this comes out as the very best portable pressure washer.

It’s easy to assemble, and provides impressive power even when drawing from a portable water source. The construction is solid, it has a good range of spray angles and pressures to choose from, and it will legitimately clean almost anything.

worx-hydroshot-portable-pressure-washer-testing

I tested bikes, muddy boots, garden tools, our car, patio furniture, the wheelie bin and our windows. It cleaned them all with ease. The only things I don’t think it’s suitable for are my dogs paws (it’s too powerful) and patio algae (it’s not powerful enough for this).

Overall though, after testing a variety of models, I do believe it’s the best cordless pressure washer on the market and well worth your consideration.

The Bosch EasyAquatak 110 High Pressure Washer is highly portable despite being a mains-powered washer. It weighs just 3.8 kg, so it’s not a lot heavier than the cordless units featured on this page, yet it operates at a far higher pressure – a maximum of 110 bar.

Compact and versatile, this pressure washer can be lifted up and carried with just one hand. It has a 5 m cable, giving reasonable freedom to move around whilst using it.

The 110 bar pressure allows it to make light work of a range of household cleaning tasks, including car washing, patio scrubbing and cleaning outdoor furniture. It comes with a detergent container and a range of spray nozzles for more effective cleaning.

There’s a jet nozzle for stubborn dirt, a foam nozzle for detergent and a flat-jet nozzle for cleaning bikes and garden furniture. All accessories can be stored on the pressure washer itself.

The design of this machine is quite different to many pressure washers. It’s made with a low centre of gravity, making it less prone to toppling over. It’s compact enough to be set on a table or stored on a shelf if needed.

Overall, this is the best portable pressure washer if you want a light, easy to use model, but you don’t want to sacrifice power by choosing a cordless model. It provides a decent amount of cleaning power for cars and patios.

Not only does the Wilks-USA RX545i High Power Pressure Washer have the highest pressure output of all the pressure washers featured here, it also has the longest hose. It’s therefore a very powerful and versatile tool for cleaning around the home and garden.

It comes with a 10 m hose as well as an 8 m extension hose. These can connect together to create an 18 m hose in total – perfect for a range of jobs!

In terms of power, the Wilks-USA RX545i operates at a maximum pressure of 210 bar, with a continuous pressure of 138 bar. It’s a powerful machine that can spot clean dirt and easily tidy up driveways, paving, furniture and decking.

It comes with a range of accessories, including: an extended gun, a gutter lance, five nozzles, a rotary brush, a fixed brush and a patio cleaner unit. There’s also an integrated 1.2L detergent tank to give your cleaning an added boost.

It’s easy to keep track of all these accessories, as the washer has on-board storage for the lance, hose, attachments and power cable.

Overall, this is the best portable pressure washer if you’re after high power. It weighs 19 kg so it may not be suitable for everyone, but it certainly doesn’t compromise on pressure output. The range of nozzles and accessories, as well as the long hose, make it easy to carry out a range of jobs.

The Oasser Portable Electric Pressure Washer is the best portable pressure washer for car cleaning. It weighs just 7.2 kg and has a maximum working pressure of 125 bar. The rated working pressure is 75 bar, so it’s suitable for cleaning your car but isn’t so high powered that it’ll damage the paintwork.

One feature that makes this pressure washer a lot more versatile is its ability to draw water from a standing source as well as a tap. This can come in exceptionally handy if you don’t have a tap near your driveway (although you will still need access to a mains power source).

This pressure washer comes equipped with a 5 m high pressure hose and a 400 ml detergent bottle. There are five quick-connect spray nozzles included that make it suitable for a range of tasks around the home.

With a small and portable build, this pressure washer can be wheeled around your car for effective cleaning from any angle. It weighs just 7.2 kg so can be lifted if needed, but it also has wheels to improve portability.

This pressure washer is simple to use and easy to put together. There are just two screws required to attach the handle, so no complex assembly.

All in all, this pressure washer is a great all-round model with just the right amount of pressure for car cleaning. Plus, it’s made even more useful by the inclusion of a detergent bottle, soap nozzle and the fact it can draw from a standing water source.

5. Karcher OC3 Mobile Outdoor Cleaner

Best with built-in water tank

  • All of the parts can be stored underneath the removable tank for easy storage and portability
  • Suitable for low pressure tasks such as washing the dog and cleaning fresh mud off boots
  • The water tank can be filled and then clipped to the machine, meaning water won't spill and it can be put in the boot of the car
  • Relatively quiet - about the same volume as a hairdryer

  • Not a very high-powered machine - the jet is similar to a tap on full power
  • Gets through water quickly - the water tank will empty with two minutes of continuous use
  • There's only one spray setting with no additional nozzles

The Kärcher OC3 Mobile Outdoor Cleaner is pretty unique in that it has a built-in water reservoir which is extremely helpful in certain situations. You can fill it up and then not worry about having to use an external water source. However, it does run out quickly.

I can see myself taking this camping to clean plates, wash off footwear, and clean the car window screen after a trip down a wet motorway. Basically – gentle tasks that don’t require a lot of power.

The nozzle has one spray pattern, whereas other machines have a variety of jets, so it’s not all that versatile.

Karcher-OC3-Mobile-Outdoor-Cleaner-testing

This is not high-powered machine and it doesn’t claim to clean your patio. I think this cordless power washer is pretty good for its claims but removing dried mud and bird mess took a lot of soaking and the water ran out.

If you want something that will clean all your patio furniture, I’d look for another that uses an external water source.

This certainly has its place as a portable source of cleaning muddy paws and fresh mud. It’s not really the same product as others on this list so comparing them directly is unfair.

Overall, the built-in reservoir is handy, but this isn’t a ‘high-powered pressure washer’ in the traditional sense. It’s the best portable pressure washer if you want something to use remotely (when camping or hiking, for example) to hose a couple of things down without needing substantial power.

6. Norse SK25i Portable Electric Pressure Washer

Best cordless water pressure

best cordless portable pressure washer Norse SK25i Portable Electric Pressure Washer
  • The 'turbo' setting produces a powerful spray that will remove small areas of algae and reach over 4 metres
  • A longer lance can be created by connecting both lances together, creating a long reach which is useful for jobs like cleaning windows
  • Included detergent bottle makes it easy to dispense soap at the same time as cleaning

  • It only has a short battery life of 10 minutes
  • The soap is used up from the detergent bottle quite quickly, so it may need to be refilled several times during one job
  • The jets are too strong to use for cleaning pets

With a team of Norwegian engineers behind its design, the Norse SK25i Portable Electric Pressure Washer is a very popular cordless pressure washer. There’s a lot to like about this pressure washer, let down only by its relatively poor battery life.

In terms of power, it’s one of the best cordless pressure washers available. The 25 bar water pressure is noticeably strong, suitable for tackling dried-on dirt, and when combined with the detergent bottle there isn’t much it can’t clean. Plus, the extension lance gives a really long reach, so it’s great for cleaning windows too.

Norse-SK25i-Portable-Electric-Pressure-Washer-testing

The fact that the battery only lasts for 10 minutes of continuous use is a bit of a let down. You have to be quite methodical with your approach to tasks to make sure you get the most done in the available time. This is the compromise that you need to make when it comes to powerful cordless pressure washers – if they’ve got a lot of power, running time becomes limited.

If you want something that is both cordless and powerful, this is a great choice; however, the short battery life is the compromise you have to make. Otherwise, you’ll probably have to go for a mains-powered pressure washer if you want this level of power without the battery issue.

7. Norse SK90 Portable Pressure Washer[ SAVE 37% ]

Best value portable pressure washer

best cordless portable pressure washer Norse SK90 Portable Pressure Washer
  • Can draw from standing water as well as the mains, so can be used where you don’t have a water source
  • Weighs just 7 kg, so it’s very easy to carry around with you
  • The multi-jet nozzle means you can adjust the spray pattern without having to put on a new nozzle
  • Quick-lock attachments make it quick to change between nozzles

  • 3 m hose may be too short for some jobs - it isn’t long enough to reach from the bonnet to the rear of an average size car
  • Due to its light weight the pressure washer can tip over fairly easily

The Norse SK90 Portable Pressure Washer is a compact machine that delivers more power than you’d expect from such a small, reasonably-priced pressure washer. It’s one of the best portable pressure washers if you’re after value for money because it strikes a good balance between power and affordability.

Weighing 7 kg, this 1800 W pressure washer has a maximum pressure output of 131 bar and a continuous working pressure of 90 bar. In practical terms, this means it can tackle grimy paving stones, decking and caked on mould and grime.

It can also draw water from a standing source which is ideal if you don’t have a nearby tap.

The pressure washer comes with a 3 m hose as well as a triangle brush, rotary brush, filter, adapters and two nozzles. The multi-jet nozzle is versatile and useful for a range of tasks and the 90° turbo nozzle is capable of getting under hard to reach places. All nozzles attach via a quick-connect system, so changing the spray setting is very easy.

The 3 m hose is a little short for reaching around a whole car, but the unit is very portable at 7 kg so it can be carried or wheeled. The power cable is 5 m long.

All things considered, this pressure washer easily stands up to its pricier competitors. The 90 bar working pressure is suitable for the majority of domestic tasks like car and bin cleaning.

Considering its price tag and power output, the Yard Force High-Pressure Washer is the best pressure washer to buy on a budget. It’s priced a lot lower than competitors with similar specifications and offers good performance overall.

This washer provides a maximum pressure output of 135 bar, and a continuous working pressure of 90 bar, powered by a 1800 W motor. It will clean mould, moss, fences, patios and cars.

Weighing 9.2 kg, this compact Yard Force pressure washer is sufficiently portable. It has a neat build and a large carry handle.

The hose is 6 m long, and the power cable is 5m, so you should be able to reach around cars and across small patios. If it does need moving, there are built-in wheels to help.

There are several accessories included: a high pressure hose, turbo nozzle (for extra stubborn dirt), high-pressure nozzle, lance and spray gun. It’s also possible to store all of the hoses and accessories inside the washer itself to make it easier to carry.

Overall, this pressure washer offers great cleaning potential at a budget-friendly price. By choosing a mains-powered option, as opposed to a cordless model, you get plenty of power at an affordable price – batteries can often cause costs to soar.

Next up, I put the Wesco WS8800 Cordless Portable Pressure Washer through its paces.

The best way to describe this cordless pressure washer is basic but powerful. It’s certainly capable of doing the majority of jobs that you would require from a cordless model and I think it’s the best cordless pressure washer to buy on a budget.

Wesco-Cordless-Portable-Pressure-Washer-testing

It doesn’t have quite as much reach as some others – the jet itself doesn’t stretch quite as far, and there’s no extension lance, so it’s not quite so good for long-range jobs. In particular, it feels heavier than others, possibly down to its basic, non-ergonomic design. For this reason, it’s not quite as good for jobs such as cleaning the windows.

The fact that you sometimes need to stop to let the battery cool down is also a bit of a nuisance, it makes jobs take longer and you have to remember to keep an eye on it.

Also, other cordless pressure washers at the same price tend to come with more accessories, which I think Wesco should look to include to provide more value to the consumer.

Overall though, for the price-point I think it offers decent value for money. It’s a good budget-friendly option if you’re after a powerful cordless washer.

  • The brush accessory is especially good for achieving a clean surface with no debris left behind
  • The ECO setting makes the jet softer, which means it is safer to use on car paint and windows
  • It's possible to change the angle of the handle to make it more comfortable to hold

  • The loudest of the pressure washers tested, emitting quite a loud screeching sound
  • Quite expensive for what you get, unless the detergent bottle and brush attachment are a priority for you
  • The trigger can be quite difficult to press and requires reasonable hand strength
  • Not enough power for cleaning tougher stains without the help of the brush attachment

The Yard Force Aquajet Cordless Portable Pressure Washer is a good cordless pressure washer that does that majority of cleaning jobs well.

It doesn’t have quite the same pressure as most of the other washers that I tested. However, with the help of the brush accessory it is capable of cleaning most surfaces.

Yard-Force-Aquajet-Cordless-Portable-Pressure-Washer-testing

The accessories are very good. Out of the machines I tested, I’d say this is the best cordless pressure washer for accessories. If you’re worried about accidentally removing car paint or breaking old glass, the additional brush allows you to clean more gently. The ECO mode also softens the pressure for a gentle clean.

I suppose the biggest downside is that most people buy a pressure washer so that they don’t have to get manually stuck in, so if you only want to clean from a distance (without using the brush) this may not be right for you.

Product Tester

I carried out a range of tests on some of the best portable pressure washers to determine any flaws in their design, power, performance, noise levels, safety, additional features, and overall value for money. I did the test, so you don’t have to. That way, you can make an informed decision on the best portable pressure washer for you without the hassle of trying them all out yourself.

  • Design: When testing the design of each pressure washer, I considered portability, whether they had a compact size that was easy to store, the hose and cord storage, whether there were handy features like a carry handle or strap, and whether they were built well, with sturdy construction and durable parts. Models that ranged from 30 to 45 cm in height, 30 to 45 cm in width, and 25 to 35 cm in depth were deemed the most suitable for everyday users, as this size made them far easier to store and carry around. Those with a sturdy handle, strap, or cord storage were also given higher marks.
  • Power & Performance: The main factors I tested for power and performance were each pressure washer’s bar pressure and motor type. Adjustable pressure settings are a must, so models with high, low, and “turbo” settings that range from 5 – over 100 bar pressure were rated the highest. I was also looking for models with brushless motors, as these are the best you can buy. Furthermore, I assessed each pressure washer’s flow rate and nozzle and spray patterns – washers with variable spray settings from 0 – 40 degrees were rated best, as these improved the versatility of the tool.
  • Noise: In terms of noise, I was looking for pressure washers that were sufficiently powerful yet remained quiet so they wouldn’t annoy the neighbours! Any models producing 80 dB of noise or less were marked higher, whereas excessively noisy models of 90 dB or above were marked down.
  • Safety: I assessed each pressure washer’s weight, as this influences how safe it is to use for prolonged periods. Pressure washers that weighed below 4 kg were given the best rating, as these were the most portable and safest options to use for long periods. I also checked each model’s pressure relief valve, ensuring it released excess pressure to prevent overloading the pump and hose, as well as a trigger lock or safety interlock system. Pressure washers that came with nozzle guards and safety accessories were a plus.
  • Additional Features: Certain additional features make pressure washers more practical. So, when testing, I looked for an effective detergent injection system, additional hose length (6 m is suitably safe and boosts portability) and flexibility, a suitable water inlet filter, and hot water capacity. Models that had the majority of these features were given the highest ratings, whereas those that only stuck to the basics were rated down, as these aren’t as versatile and easy to use.
  • Value for Money: I based each product’s value for money rating on its bar pressure, performance, design, and the range of spray angles it had. I also looked for additional handy features like long hoses and self-contained water units. I compared the product’s array of features with its price point and evaluated whether this was suitable for the average household user. Those that were well-suited to everyday tasks and that wouldn’t break the bank were given the best value for money ratings.

Becky's Smart Buying Tips

  1. For medium-difficulty jobs, I recommend a cordless pressure washer with around 20 – 22 bar pressure. This will be sufficient for most tasks such as hosing down muddy bikes, cleaning the car or washing windows.
  2. To remove small amounts of algae from patios, you’ll need a washer with at least 25-bar pressure. Be aware that cordless pressure washers are great for general cleaning, but if your main aim is to lift stubborn stains, you may need a mains-powered machine with around 100 bar pressure.
  3. For delicate jobs, like cleaning a grubby dog, choose a bar pressure of less than 5 and a flow rate below 2 L/min. Of course, you should still test it on your hand first, but cordless pressure washers can be a great way to stop too much mud entering your car or house!
  4. If you want something that you can keep in your car, I’d say the best cordless pressure washer will have a built-in water tank. This means the washer unit is self-contained and ready to go. Alternatively, other cordless pressure washers will draw water from exterior water sources, like bottles of water, which is still immensely useful.
  5. A final point worth noting: if cleaning windows is your main priority, you’ll need a washer with a long reach. Look for a hose of around 6 m so that you’re not tethered to your water source

After testing different models, I’ve chosen the WORX Hydroshot Portable Pressure Washer as my top recommendation. With 22 bar pressure and a range of spray angles, it works well on patio furniture, cars, windows, and bikes.

How to Choose The Best Portable Pressure Washer

The best portable pressure washers help make life a lot easier (and cleaner!).

They’re particularly useful for taking with you on the go – on camping trips or walks – and for cleaning cars and bikes without being tethered to mains power.

There are a few things to bear in mind if you’re looking at buying a cordless pressure washer. Here are a few things to consider, to help you make an informed purchase:

What Do You Want to Clean With Your Cordless Pressure Washer?

This is something that’s important to consider. What do you want to use your cordless portable pressure washer for?

Some models are better suited to hosing down the bikes after going down a muddy trail, whilst others might be too powerful for this job. Equally, you might be keen to remove dried-on stains, in which case you’ll want a lot of power.

A washer with more than 22 bar should be capable of removing most types of dirt. A good pressure washer with this power can usually remove algae on patios using a fine ‘pencil’ jet.

If you want to use your cordless pressure washer for more delicate tasks, such as cleaning a grubby dog after a walk, you should look for something much gentler, around 5 bar.

Depending on how important portability is, you might want to look for a cordless pressure washer with a built-in water tank. Many of the best cordless pressure washers need an external water source – often this can be a bucket, bottle of water, or stream. However, there are some washers that can contain the water ‘on board’.

An on-board water reservoir will make the unit more compact, and quicker to use. For certain jobs, this could be desirable.

Finally, if you will be doing a lot of window cleaning with your cordless power washer, you will benefit from a longer reach. In this case you should look for a washer with an extension lance.

How Easy is it To Use?

With cordless power washers there are no cables to worry about tripping over or getting wet.

Their compact size also makes them easy to use. Standard mains power pressure washers can be quite heavy and get tiring. The best cordless pressure washers weigh between 1 – 4 kg and can be easily carried around.

Of course, there is still quite a different between 1 kg and 4 kg, so bear in mind what jobs you’ll be doing and how long you’ll need to hold it for.

When buying a cordless pressure washer, double check that it comes with a hose that will allow you to draw water from any water source not just a mains tap (of course, this doesn’t apply if it has a built-in reservoir).

Being able to carry around the washer and the water source, without being connected to any mains power or tap, makes a lot of jobs much easier.

If you want to take your cordless pressure washer in the car, and hose down your mountain bike or dog after a day of fun in the great outdoors, consider a smaller model which can be transported easily.

Remember: if the design it isn’t quick and simple – likelihood is you won’t use it. If a model is too big or heavy, you might be put off using it often, even if it is powerful. Sometimes it’s better to go for a slightly lighter often, with marginally less power, if you’ll actually get more use from it.

You should also look for a cordless pressure washer that has a simple gun and various attachments. This will make it more versatile and mean you can clean different things, like guttering. A fine mist, pulsating jet and pencil jet are really helpful.

Follow the care instructions carefully because these will extend its life. Pay particular attention to the advice about charging – overheating a battery does it no favours, and it may benefit from being charged before it has 100% run down.

Make Sure You Consider the Battery Power

Battery power is something you must consider with portable cordless pressure washers. There’s no way they can compete with petrol pressure washer or mains powered pressure washers when it comes to run-time and power. However, they can push out a fair amount of strength and come into their own in certain situations.

The biggest problem is always going to be how long your battery powered pressure washer will last. This can vary quite dramatically between cordless pressure washers, and the charging time is also worth bearing in mind.

Using the pressure washers featured on this page as an example, batteries may last for as little as 10 minutes, or a maximum of around 30 minutes. Portable cordless pressure washers with a shorter battery life may be more powerful, but you have to take a methodical approach to tasks to use them efficiently.

Remember: battery life only refers to the time when the washer is on. Washing the car might take a total of 30 minutes, but you may only sporadically use the power washer for 10 minutes of that time.

Some high-power washers have ECO settings which produce a lower-pressure jet. This allows their battery to last for longer and you can switch to high pressure only when it’s necessary.

Another option to consider is ‘interchangeable batteries’. Several brands, like WORX, have products that work on compatible batteries. This means you can use the same battery in your drill and your cordless pressure washer.

If you have any products from a particular brand already, it’s worth checking if their batteries are interchangeable. This would allow you to can charge one whilst using the other, and double the amount of time you can use the washer for.

Getting Enough Pressure to Your Washer

Too little pressure and the job takes hours, too much pressure and you can damage paintwork and pointing. Pressure is all-important when you’re trying to choose the best portable pressure washer for your needs.

By nature, cordless portable pressure washers have lower bar pressure than electric and petrol model. However, this ‘low’ bar pressure isn’t useless, and can even make them suitable for a greater range of jobs.

As seen with the products featured on this page, water pressure of 22 bar or more is enough for washing the car, removing stubborn dirt and general cleaning tasks. The only thing that isn’t possible is cleaning large areas of paving of built-up grime.

The benefit of cordless pressure washers, with their lower bar pressure, is that they tend to have a range of gentler pressure settings, so you’ll be less likely to damage paintwork with them.

It’s possible to buy cordless pressure washers with less pressure, of around 5 bar. These have the same pressure as a garden hose, but can still be useful due to their portable nature. Whereas you mustn’t use a 20 bar pressure washer to clean a pet, you could use a 5-bar option to hose them down.

You may have to get more ‘hands on’ with a lower pressure portable washer than you would with a mains-powered pressure washer. For example, using a brush attachment can help shift dirt.

How Easy is Transportation?

Not all of the best cordless pressure washers are as easy to transport as others. Most models are great for using around the house, but if you want to take them camping, or store them in the car, there are a couple of useful features to look out for.

Primarily, it helps if all of the attachments store on the washer itself.

When keeping items in the car boot for a long time, it’s easy for them to roll around and for small parts to get lost in the melee.

Finding a cordless pressure washer that stores all accessories ‘on board’ helps avoid this problem. Equally, you may find it easier if a water reservoir is also built in, so you can fill up with water before you leave the house.

Alternatively, of course, you can buy a jerrycan for a few pounds to store water in, and a clip box can keep the accessories from rolling around in the car boot. So there are solutions!

Portable Pressure Washer FAQs

Yes. You can use a cordless pressure washer. You don’t need to connect them to a constantly flowing water source. With a cordless pressure washer you can either fill up the unit’s pressure washer tank (if it has one), or rest its hose in a body of water (bucket, water bottle, lake, etc.).

Jut make sure when buying a cordless pressure washer that it has the right hose included to allow it to ‘draw’ water from a static external source.

You can use your cordless pressure washer if the temperatures are above freezing. Don’t leave the machine outside for long in winter. If temperatures are likely to fall below freezing after you pressure wash, you should make sure to dry the surfaces that you have cleaned (particularly if you cleaned your car) thoroughly.

Don’t leave your cordless pressure washer anywhere that it can get too cold, and make sure that all the components are dry before packing it away. If there is still water in the machine and temperatures drop below freezing, ice could form inside and damage it.

Be careful when giving your dog a bath with a cordless pressure washer. Some jets are way too strong and will be dangerous.

A 5-bar pressure washer should be gentle enough for cleaning your dog, but anything higher may be too powerful. You must test the spray on your hand first, and this will help you tell if the jet is too strong or not.

If you have a sufficiently gentle portable power washer, it may have a built-in water reservoir. You can fill these with warm water to wash your dog, so that it doesn’t get cold.
